What a magical, twisted and dark tale of a witch who accidentally releases an ancient supernatural. I was so hooked on this read, I couldn’t put it down and am dying to know what happens next! There was so much drama, witches, curses and so much more.
The slow burn romance was something else too. I honestly can’t say if I love Memnon or hate him!! I am so back and forth with him. I will say the terms of endearment in this book are so unique and on point: my Queen, empress, my soul mate, my mate and little witch. The audio book was too perfect, the narrator Stella Bloom read the book so perfectly. The little nick names and everything worked so well with being able to literally hear them in a voice that now haunts me an Memnon.
It was such a fun read for a fun group challenge I joined called Witch Week. We read this and had a group chat and it was too fun to hear what others thought of the book. Definitely not for everyone, but I just couldn’t get enough. This is a spicy read, but as someone who doesn’t like much spice this worked. There is also some language. Also, my favorite character is Nero!

While the actual story line was alright, it felt kind of in the background to the smut. And while I sometimes am fine with this, it did not work in this book for me. MINOR SPOILER I was a bit confused with the sex dreams she had, and I feel like they were unnecessary, the dreams had such a big opportunity to reveal hidden details lost in Selene’s memories but it failed to deliver that. The characters felt one dimensional and a bit boring imo.
I kind of expected this to not be my favourite, and it’s my fault, I prefer the light hearted just pure romance books when the romance is fast paced. Fantasy feels like it need more build up and world building before the smut.
THAT BEING SAID, if you want to read a book of a witch and a sexy immortal man, and don’t care too much about the world building opposed to the hot scenes, then this is your book!

wow i really enjoyed this! so different to anything else i’ve read the last couple of years, i loved the magic and the unique world - literally diving straight into the second book now
