Bewitched was a good read with a creative premise and some interesting world-building, but it didn’t hit quite as hard for me as Laura Thalassa’s Four Horsemen or Rhapsodic series. It was definitely entertaining and had that signature dark-fantasy edge she’s known for, but something was missing for me on the romance front.
Even though this is technically a romantasy, the actual romance felt pretty minimal. The connection between the two main characters just didn’t feel as strong or emotionally developed as I was hoping. Maybe I expected more to happen—more depth, more tension, more something—but it never quite got there.
Still, it was a solid start with potential, and I was intrigued enough to keep turning pages. Not my favorite from Thalassa, but a decent and entertaining read overall.

Amnesia isn’t one of my favorite storylines… however this is an instance where it is done extremely well. Selene’s magic continues to chip away at her recent memories, which is becoming increasingly inconvenient as a series of murders takes place at the same time. I love the concept that all magic has a cost and for Selene it is her memory.
If that wasn’t enough to keep you interested, enter Memnon. A delicious red flag MMC who is pissed after being locked away for thousands of years. I’m very excited to jump into book two and discover more of the many unanswered questions left at the end of Bewitched.

This book started way too slow for me. And the plane crash at the beginning almost made me not want to continue. How can a plane crash be the most unrealistic part of a fantasy book? Putting all that aside, Memnon has all the red flags 🚩 but I totally get why Selene still has the hits for him 😬
Don't get me started on this book. OR do get me started because I can't stop thinking about it and thank f*ck the second book came out right after I finished reading this one. Not thrilled that it is a trilogy and I will wait months for the last one but it is what it is. On to my review. Selene is a witch whose power unfortunately eats away her memories when she uses it which is obviously very inconvenient. As a requirement for getting into the coven university she's been trying to join forever, she must go on a magical quest. On her way she accidentally awakens a long slumbering entombed dude who thinks she's his long lost wife and that's when the fun begins. Memnon is dangerous but beautiful but deadly but loving but vicious but...you get the point. This book was pretty spicy but also had good world building. I really loved that Selene is an unreliable narrator because I was constantly wondering what was really happening that she may not remember. Twists and turns about and I stayed up wayyyy too late to finish this but it was worth it.
Laura Thelassa does it again!
This book is a bit slow for me, but I still really enjoyed it. Thelassa is always an instant buy for me, so I knew even if it was slow she would come through and she sure did! Everything built up to those last few chapters and when it hit, it hit hard.
Highly recommend!
Can't wait for the next book!
