This started so well. Same story, different POV, but enough new scenes and added plot lines to make it interesting. I appreciated the extra interaction with the gods and the added histories between them all. But then it lost it.
Scenes with Persephone read like fan fiction: every inch of dialogue was paired with a long look inside Hades’ head. Don’t get me wrong, fan fiction is definitely an art in itself - and often in depth in style - but Hades’ psyche was hardly interesting. It was repetitive, focused on one thing (three guesses what!), and was paired with plenty of fucks. And then at about 60% of the way through, the book descended into one long fuck. The new plots dissolved, leaving nothing but a rehash of what I’d already read in the first Persephone book... a shame, as it started so well. I ended up skipping most of it.
I think this is the start of the same series but with every book from Hades’ POV? I won’t be reading on as I preferred the originals.

Gods and Mortals
Even though this is basically the events of book 1 in Hades’ POV, Hades has quite the rocking life so there’s a lot more action in this one, and a lot of new scenes. We get to know more Gods of Olympus and beyond, including an intriguing look into the marital woes of Aphrodite and Hephaestus. It’s also super fun to be in Hades socially awkward, tortured brain. And although I thought he’d be my favorite, Hecate and Hermès totally steal that crown. I waited for their scenes, all for Hecate’s chill bloodthirsty ways and Hermès’ flamboyant mischief. Hades and Persephone are hot as ever and his devotion to her melts my heart entirely.

What even was the point of this book? Hades PoV adds nothing (that I can discern, anyway) to the narrative of this story.

I love to see Hades side of what happened. I love the god before and this only made me love him more
