I really enjoyed reading Ashley's story! It almost felt unfinished though, since there's many deep elements in the book that she doesn't really go super in depth about. She has something traumatic happen when she is in middle school, and she talks about how this impacts her for a few years. But then it she kind of stops talking about it to focus on a different story, and it feels like it's unfinished.

This book was absolutely beautifully written and a raw memoir of Ashley Ford’s childhood. It brings you to tears at times thinking about the emotions within her family along with perhaps reminding yourself of your own family. I highly suggest this book to anyone though note, this can be a read where even though it’s short, it might take you longer due to the subject manner.

This was a beautiful memoir, but a very hard read. TW For all the things. It was slim and with 5 page chapters a quick read. Hard topics, Ashley is so loveable that if I ever met her in real life it would be everything I am to not hug her. Worth the read for sure.

such a deeply personal beautiful memoir. This includes tough topics but the author shares freely and her honestly and vulnerability makes for a compelling read.

“My mother wasn’t perfect. Our relationship is complicated. She was my imperfect mother. We were two different people, and found that hard to accept in one another.”
