It's... fine? Not sure why it has made it to 'classic' status though.
19th century French soap opera. Literary candy.
Great characters, loved the plot, plus sword fighting!
A swashbuckling, history-bending, mustache-twirling ultra-Frenchie adventure! Monsieur Dumas is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors — the French counterpart to my GOAT, Dickens.
So many things to love, but surely the maturation and loss of innocent of this novel’s brash and flaming Gascon is a tale all too relatable for a 27-year old such as myself. Love, loss, and the pursuit of honor are just a part of life baby.
When I grow up, I want to be a Musketeer. All for one and one for all till the day I die.

Very fast moving and action packed. A little high in testosterone.
My first Dumas, and I was completely taken by his electric prose. Effortlessly readable, enchanting historical fiction to which no other author can compare.
