I absolutely loved Max when we met her in "Say it like mane it" along with Spencer so I was extremely excited to see that they where the first Couple for Erin's new addition to the Bayou family.
This book had a bit more of an edge to it than some of Erin's others that I have read, but still, it had that amazing cosy feeling to it that you know and love.
I loved the plot to this and the way it brought the two main characters together due to the danger that comes to light jncthe first chapter.
To say that I fell in love with this couple is an understatement, and they were very close to knocking "zeek and Jane" out of that place, but there, definitely holding second.
Overall, this book is a straight place 5⭐️ read, and I can't wait to see where this series goes.

I knew I would love this book before I ever started reading it. I mean it's an Erin Nicholas book and I love everything she rights. But I didn't know that I would love it so much I didn't want to start another book.

This story is so much more than a steamy, funny rom-com. The amount of feeling and emotion that is in it is something you can almost "feel coming off the page". It really makes you think about things and yet it's still a makes-you-feel-good-fan-yourself-it's-so-steamy funny feel good love story.

Nicholas has that innate knack of bringing real life situations to the page and making you think about them while making you want to turn the page to find out what adventures her fun, sexy characters are going to get into next.

This was another great read from Erin Nicholas! I love all the stories connected to the Bayou and the Landry family, and this one was no exception. Spencer and Max are really good together, and I loved that they were able to work through everything to learn that they could be what the other needed. I really felt for Max and the way she was raised. I would have liked for there to be a better resolution with that, but it didn't make me like the story any less. As usual, the crew from Autre are just awesome people, and they fiercely protect those they love. The ending was very sweet, and I thought it was perfect for these two. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

This book had promise. The first thing that annoyed me was having to read the prologue that was 75 pages and could have been summed up in 15. Then Spencer was annoying and misogynistic because he was raised that way??? There was way too much town building for the rest of the books and the majority of it was pointless for the story. They also fell in love in 5 seconds, eye roll. And then the actual crime got resolved so quickly and wasn’t even concluded well in a way that makes sense. The only parts I liked were learning about Max’s back story and Spencer helping her work through that. I should have dnfed the book because it just was not good.

blegh. cop propaganda. It was one of those books that’s in a series in a big group of characters but it relied way too heavily on the expectation that the reader has read all the other books, cares about the other characters, and knows the main characters origin stories. Super insta love which is not my vibe and the main plot of the story gets resolved in like two seconds? I just wish the whole protecting her plot line was actually part of the story so that it was some version of the bodyguard trope. i was wholly unimpressed and not entertained.

Max and Spencer are… wonderful. Their story was entertaining, funny, sexy, but also deep and passionate. As usual, Ellie and Leo Landry were there to give some seriously profound advice/stories, and I loved that the author focused on finding/creating your own personal happiness, instead of relying on someone else to proved it. Overall, I was thoroughly engrossed in another fabulous Erin Nicholas book, and am REALLY excited for Michael and Ami’s story!

Great start to the Badges of the Bayou Series!

Max & Spencer are perfect for each other - eventually. It was a delight to see them work on themselves so they could have their HEA!

Loved seeing Leo's stories vs. Ellie's advise.

Won't look at brownies the same way.

Can't wait for more Badges!
