3.8 AVERAGE

Honestly. It took me forever to get into this book. I was thoroughly intrigued by the first one. And I loved how the perspective shifted each chapter. But this one - it felt like so much time should be passing and it wasn’t. There was all this build up and nothing was happening. And it’s as though there was one major storyline and a major plot point you were waiting to arrive at and then for like, 3 chapters, you’re like here we go! And then it’s over. And Avery and Atlas. I just can’t. The teen angst and melodrama was more than I could take in one book. And then I love Watt and I appreciated Leda actually having a change of tempo once he really became a staple in her life. Realizing she could have more, and therefore be more. But honestly, the teacher kissing Rylin? Like, barely even a climax. Hardly a side plot. And then all of a sudden - enter the embittered girlfriend of dead Eris- and then she’s gone. Like, ohhhh. You thought you knew the plot of book 3 but psych - you don’t! Sorry - that doesn’t pass for a cliffhanger. That’s just lazy. Also, don’t even get me started on the random dream Eris who comes to give Avery sound advice from the beyond?!!What even is that. And we all know Calliope and Avery are going to have their moment but I am so tired of the “woe is me I’m so rich and no one understands my depth of emotion” but literally all she stresses over is Atlas - that I can’t even be mad at the boring and very predictable Calliope I could’ve done without adding to the mix.

Just no. I’ll read the third because I’m no quitter but. I almost tapped out with this one.

I love this series so much, the characters are amazing (ok except Avery, she's annoying as hell but I guess that's just her personality) the storyline is good, the ending of this second book had me SHOOK and I've never been this excited to start a third book??

The sequel to this dystopian sci-fi gossip girl.  As much as I loved the teen drama/thriller of the first one, I didn't like this one as much. Some characters are extremely frustrating, but I think it is very teenage-like behaviour.  You can't expect a teenage girl to think like an adult.  That being said, this universe is truly well laid out and I love it.  It puts the chess pieces in place for book 3 and the plot thickens.

For me, the second book in a trilogy is always the hardest to like, as we are in between the introduction of our universe and characters and the end of our story where we have closure and answers. The second half of the book really is good in that role of being its own story, while also setting the events of book three

Still not into the Avery/ Atlas relationship. And im hoping that it is really over and not something that will be fixed in the third book. Also a little bit confused by the prologue and the last chapter. the prologue says "no one expects to die at a party" or something like that but *spoiler* Marcel doesnt die at the party, or did i miss something. isnt the last chapter set like a week/few weeks after the Dubai party? so i feel like the prologue is very misleading.

4.5, amazed by the authors ability to make me absolutely love the character I hated in the first book

This book was really disappointing to me. I really loved The Thousandth Floor, but this one just wasn't what TTF was to me: exciting, scary, interesting, romantic and full of drama.
This book was packed full of cringe worthy relationships: Avery and her (adopted) brother Atlas, Leda and Watt (wtf? They hated & wanted to destroy each other and now they're in love??) and Rylin and Cord who were done in my opinion and didn't need a revival.
Also, the ending was REALLY rushed, although it was really exciting. A thing I disliked was that Calliope's storyline didn't fit in with the other ones, although it was really interesting, and was also ended really abruptly!

Overall, this book contained the typical second book slump, but although this book had so many flaws I really enjoyed reading it for what it was: entertainment to take my mind of things! So yeah, it served its purpose, but I had hoped a little more from it.

Nevertheless I will be picking up the 3rd one because I'm interested to see how the story comes to a close.

Me ha gustado mucho lo enredada que es la trama y la verdad es que me recuerda mucho a series como “Gossip girl”, pero mucho mejor. El final es muy inesperado y te deja con ganas de seguir leyendo...

I felt like this book was heading nowhere for a really long time. It was slow-going and almost no action really happened until the 75% mark. I'm fascinated by the setting and always excited to see what new places will be described in the tower, but the characters are all blah. I started to ship some people (not Avery and Atlas because gross), which made it a little more interesting, but still slow. I hope there's a third book because I definitely need more after that ending!

Edit: duh rating says it all

LOVE THIS SERIES TO DEATH AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FINALE NO I DONT WANT IT TO END
