meh.
i am a well known lover of witchy romance novels and this just felt. underwhelming. was it bad? no. boring? also no. it was just not as good as some others i've read.
the plot was predictable. characters kind of bland. it had some funny moments, i'll give it that.
just not memorable enough. won't be continuing on with the series.

This kinda annoyed me.

A cute witchy book to help ring in spooky season! Thanks so much to NetGalley and HarperCollins/One More Chapter for the ARC! We follow Essie, a witch living with a bunch of other witches, and their new landlord, Josh, who recently discovered his tenants (Essie and her friends) haven’t paid rent since the 1700’s.

This book was a quick and easy read with low angst and just what I needed. If you love witchy things and crazy but great side characters (including a house), Hex Appeal is right up your alley. I initially struggled to get into it because there was a lot going on at once, but once I found my footing, I ended up enjoying the book a lot! Essie and Josh are great and interesting characters to follow. If you need a quick Spooktober read, definitely give this a shot!

DID NOT FINISH: 29%

I didn't find myself excited to keep reading.

A most enjoyable read. Full of love , laughter, and hidden drama that I wasnt expecting

DNF. Loved the concept. Loves the description of the house. Everything else was bad. I just couldn't force myself to finish. And I NEVER DNF. Especially if it's for a book club like this was.

Also. How hard is it to Google if you don't know something? The male character is allegedly from America and brand new to the area and yet already using British jargon?!?! I can let little slips that are interchangeable go. Or maybe even one. But every time it was his perspective he dropped words that just are not in the average Americans vernacular.

Ugh. It was just annoying and I refused to subjugate myself to the torture of trying to finish it.
