Loved this super cute romance. More importantly, I love the breadth of characters and was so happy to read a Black female lead perspective, lgbtq storylines, and the inclusion of the Deaf community. This was all so refreshing. The fact that Camille Baker is a local author is even more exciting.

1.5* This was my First Reads pick. It was ok, but nothing really good or memorable. The beyond the grave mobile app manipulation was too far out there for any suspension of disbelief, and, more importantly, completely unnecessary for the story.

My ultimate disappointment was in the story as a whole - it had issues it discussed, but no heart, nor any kind of authentic emotion. Very write-by-numbers, checking-off-the-laundry-list-of-trendy-issues type of writing. The issues deserve attention, so I rounded up, but unfortunately, not based on merit.

Idea was there. It took me a bit to get into it and I’m not sure if it was the book or me, but once I hit about 100 pages, I was into it. There was something missing and I wish I knew what but it was something. However, it was cute. Your typical romance plus dating apps and past lovers. Fade to black, if you’re curious…

As always, there is something tragic that has happened, in this case the death of a best friend and the MC is trying to maneuver through life, figuring out what to do because she has lost her person.

This book is pro- black, pro- LGBTQ+, pro-natural hair and includes a representative of the deaf community WHO is still going out there and looking for opportunities, which is something I don’t often see.

There are tons of dating apps but there has never been any apps like Met!

This story follow Corrine! She is a single women who quit her corporate job to move to Chicago after losing her best friend. She is not new to Chicago, this happens to be the place she first met her best friend and lived until her parents divorced. Cory car puts her down and she ends up walking to her cousins house who happens to be throwing a party. While on the phone outside on the balcony, she drops her phone into a puddle on the ground. When she wakes the next day, she has a new app called Met on her phone. This app claims that she already met her soulmate and will send her 4 potential matches. One of them is her soul mate. This book follows Corrine as she goes through life try to get over the lost of her best friend while making new friends and connections. Will Met's match be her soulmate and if so, which one?

I loved this story. The inclusivity of it and the way she goes about dealing with the matches the app brings her way!
