I kindly received an eARC advance copy of this book to read and review though NetGalley.
Corinne lived in Chicago when she was young but her family moved to Houston after her parents’ divorce. After her best friend Joelle dies, Corinne decides to move back there, needing a change and somehow being closer to the city where they were first friends makes sense.
Corinne has given up her stable job and is temping, in need of making new friends, starting with a family friend who introduces her to a whole new circle of people.
One day she drops her phone and a strange new app called Met is loaded there that she can’t remove. It opens up the possibility that her soul mate is one of four people she has already met. But who is the fourth person?
Corinne finds emotional healing in this story, new friends, and someone that loves and supports her unconditionally. It’s an easy read and the story and plot moves quickly. I loved it!

3.5 stars. Interesting concept and easy read. I’m a sucker for a rom com. Good diversity in this one too!
Such a cute book! Loved the whole cast of characters, and the premise is a little bit magic realism / suspended disbelief for good measure!
Also… might there be a sequel??!????!!?

I started taking notes on page 20 because I was so annoyedddddd by this book! I called it quits at page 39. I would normally give a book at least 100 pages before deciding to DNF but I was having a mental breakdown reading this.
If I could give 0 stars, that would be the one I'd choose.
So, our story begins when Corinne's car breaks down and she has to wait for the tow service to arrive. Obviously that is the perfect time to visit a cousin you have never met and start doing shots. Like, duh?
Then her phone falls in a puddle of water and when it finally turns on again there’s a suspicious app that only responds to her finger ID although she 100% didn’t download it.
It blocks off access to all other apps on her phone.
Ofcourse she has to click the “tell me more” button, I mean who wouldn’t? Doesn’t sound like a scam at all!
What’s also a great idea, is to not have a steady job when you’re up to your ears in rent debt, and opt for temporary employment only. Yolo right?
P23
So this guy she’s replacing at work, Tim, had this family emergency and won't be at work for 1 week, and the company decided to have someone fill his position for said week. Just a guess, but it doesn’t sound like his job is very hard to do since our girl here has zero credentials in a similar job but they expect her to know how to do this from the first minute she’s there because there is literally no explanation about how to do this job.
We learn that Tim has an actual folder labeled “temp guide” for all the temps replacing him, I assume? How often is this guy sick or on vacation anyway? And nobody knew he had this folder ofcourse, Corinne happened to find it while organizing his files.
She also texts Tim, who she doesn't know.., with pictures of his desk that she reorganized. If only real life was like this😂.
P24
Okay okay I have to quote this.
I’m not settling for a job that won’t satisfy me.
My brother says that’s a privileged way of thinking. “Let mom stop paying your rent, and we’ll see how fast you find a job”, he’d told me. That brat. How dare he be younger than me with such a clearer vision of life?
I sooooo don’t like this girl. Do I DNF here or give it 76 more pages?😩
P28
I can only assume this is a fantasy book, set in the real world. Or maybe magical realism. Either that or the writer wanted the main character, Corinne, to come off as mentally challenged.
P35
I hate this storyline. I hate these characters. Man i can not relate to those “Leo from That 70’s show” people.
Corinne had a miserable day at work so she decides to go drinking with her cousin she met the other day, and 2 of her friends, one who she doesn't know at all. She insults this guy 3 times before her cousin decides it's a great idea to all hang out at Corinne's place. And she's totally okay with this. Yeah dude, coooool. She wasn't sure if her apartment is at all decent enough to have people over, but she was sure she definitely has wine, so who cares!
P39
This is the part where I give up. I want to say we had a good run, but we really didn't.
Lito acts out hammering a nail but then pulls the hammer too far back and knocks himself out. He's "passed out" for a few seconds before he sits up straight again.
I loved reading a book that took place in my city. This was light and fun and a quick read. I enjoyed it.
I really wanted to give this book a chance. I went into this book with good intentions and hopes to “fall in love” again. There were bits and pieces that was good but not enough to keep my interest. The book cover is what drew me in, but the book itself is what drew me out.
Though predictable, this was a very cute and entertaining read. I enjoyed the diversity, and as a non-binary person appreciate the inclusion of a non-binary character.
I would give this 3.5 stars if I could

The best way I can describe this book is as perfectly fine. I liked the idea of a supernatural dating app that works by reintroducing you to 4 people from your past, but I didn't understand how it worked. For most people that would be fine, but I'm just particular. I loved Cori and her friend group, though the Act 3 conflict didn't make sense to me. I feel as though when characters are meant to be upset, it should be a sensible cause rather than something tiny. I did enjoy that the book was set up for a sequel though and would totally read it!
