This was a book that kept me riveted from the first page. I rate books not based upon what is popular or whether or not the style is perfect, but upon the way the book makes me feel. This one kept me on the edge of my seat and called to me to keep reading, even when I should have been doing other things. The characters were annoying and selfish. The logic didn't always resonate with me. But the story itself was fascinating and thrilling. I highly recommend it.

I am really surprised with how much I enjoyed this read! I think this novel had a really great mystery and I loved the tension that was built within the novel. For me, the characters were what really brought the novel to an enjoyable experience. I love that we followed three women who had all made the decision between their careers and their families. The entire beginning portion of the novel was captivating and I loved the discussions Perks was bringing forth on this topic. This made the characters feel a lot more nuanced and motivated from other mystery/thrillers I have read from before. I empathized with each of them individually in a way that made me root and worry for all of them. All of them had differing motivations that pushed the mystery and it made the novel much more readable. In the end however, the final 15% of the book was a bit of a let down for me. The grand finale was a bit anticlimactic and I wish it was resolved a bit better. As well, there are a lot of discrepancies between the audiobook and the written book - sometimes this being entire paragraphs that just were not in the physical copy. I also noticed a lot of errors in the physical copy as well that I think could have caused major confusions for some readers (one that comes to mind is the detective using the name of one woman when we are reading an interview with another woman). I still really enjoyed this and would recommend it, but just keep in mind that this is not my usual genre.

This book was such a quick read! I really got sucked into to who started the fire and why Mia was intent on taking Laura’s job. I thought the build up of the way the characters were connected was fantastic! I really enjoyed the fast pace and background. Giving the transcript of the police interviews made it more realistic for me. I didn’t like the ending though, I feel like it ends on a cliff hanger and i don’t know what happens!
Minor: Rape, Stalking

What is the story behind three women and a burning building? What brings them together?
I really enjoy a good whodunnit, I’m all about pretending to be Sherlock

While she was bringing a child into the world, another woman had slipped into her place and stolen her job from her.
It's been a couple years since I've read a Heidi Perks book . This one is a psychological tale about motherhood, ambition and female rivalry. This book was an nice surprise and I inhaled it in one sitting. The book is broken down into a countdown to the fire with police interviews after each section. I know this may seem complicated but Heidi Perks manages to do it coherently. It was quite expertly rendered, as I was never confused about the characters or timeline. In fact, the characters were beautifully fleshed out, their actions and desires ultimately making all three quite sympathetic.
What really made me love this book are the questions that this story asks, especially about secrets, lies and motivations. It's the type of book you want to read with someone else and then discuss and I really enjoyed that about Three Perfect Liars. I wasn't expecting that sort of book and it was a pleasant surprise. I'm still thinking about Laura, Mia and Janie's actions. To me, that's the sign of a good book.
