This book continues the following of Drew and Bel. I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first one (The Wallflower) but it’s still a good book with a lot of relationships development and plot twist that I would have never seen coming in a million years
There was a lot of repetition in this book and I wanted some development in the story.
This book is dark romance so please check trigger warnings before reading 🫶🏼

Wallflower has changed in to a Wildflower and I couldn't have been more proud. Not taking shit lying down, she refused to just sit around and let others keep her in the dark. Only to find out her family secrets are deeper and more twisted than she'd ever imagine.

This one took me longer to get through than my normal reads. That's not saying anything negative - only that the pacing was a bit slower than I'm used to. Bel and Drew's story is so complicated. We have questions that need answering:
● Are they/aren't they siblings?
● Did I just get tricked into a duet full of incest?
● Is Bel Seb's sister? like for real?
● What crawled up Drew's dad's butt?
● Is Bel going to be kidnapped?

Look the last one was more for myself. I highlighted this book 5 times where they mentioned that this would be easier if they just kidnapped her. MULTIPLE PEOPLE floated that idea. Poor girl just wants to be let to her stale library books and all the dudes around her are talking about locking her in a closet or sex dungeon or the like. Who knows with the upper 1%. Honestly, the fact that J.L. Beck only had her lightly kidnapped drove me nuts. I know, I'm horrible, but like you can't edge me with talking about it the ENTIRE time and she doesn't get locked in some sort of basement.
Anyway, we start this book off following the trauma that occurred at the end of The Wallflower -- which there was plenty. Her mom's dead, his mom's dying, his dad may be behind it all AND again INCEST! Lot's of stuff to deal with. We know we're in for a ride when Drew says screw it - if she's my sister I guess we won't procreate. Or maybe they will, he's kind of got a breeder kink, so who knows what would come out of that crooked union. Drew has so many red flags that even his best friend is like "nahhh, not for my newly found sister" (even though last year he was asking if Drew wanted company with her, ick, incesssst).
We get some character growth from both Bel and Drew, though it takes Bel repeatedly telling Drew that he's terrible for him to straighten up. Not that it stops him from telling her she really doesn't have a choice, but I mean, dark romance - what do you expect? There is a lot of fun surprises near the end of this book - after Drew and Bel figure out their shit... AND TRUST is an important part of it. Man, he's asking for a lot. She immediately regrets it too.
This story is the end of the duet, but not the series. I can't wait to hear about how absolutely terrible Sebastian is with Bel's one friend. I mean, she built the basis for a possible friendship in these books, but it was weak at best. But anything has to be better than her shitty old roommate who was a fan of saggy sacks - OR so I assume. This was a delightfully rough, red flag filled, fun story. There's just the right amount of toxicity and murder mixed with love? I will read the rest.

I liked this book better than the first but it still wasn’t my favorite read. I enjoyed the character and the story but I just feel like something was missing almost, like it could have been better! I do like how the story progressed along with the characters but I wish it had a different ending. All in all it was a decent read.
