A lot of times, the friends-to-lovers trope is a miss for me, simply because the conflict never seems believable. I just think to myself “ugh, if you’re in love, just get together already, why all the angst? It needn’t be this difficult!” But with this one, I feel like I really did empathize with Jasmine’s reluctance to see what was right in front of her (and then to sabotage it when it could no longer be ignored). I appreciated her character development a lot.
As is always the case, Hibbert’s writing is accessible and enjoyable, I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

The Roommate Risk was tooooo good. I loved Jasmine and Rahul so much! Their story was genuinely captivating and I was invested in their respective character arcs. I think the level of detail and care that went into developing these arcs was obvious and therefore added so much depth and vulnerability to the story. Jasmine and Rahul aren't together simply because of one stupid reason or another. And when those reasons are revealed to the reader, it raises the stakes even higher for their love. Like I said before, this book is all angst and longing buuuut, it is so damn satisfying. Get into this book asapppp!
A pet peeve: I wish the cover would accurately depict Rahul! Rahul is described as having BROWN skin and CURLY hair. And not for nothing that man on the cover looks white and his hair looks straight! So what gives??

but that being said this was a REALLY good book. i loved the characters, loved the story, loved the diversity, loved the growth just AHHHHH.
actually i just figured out why it’s not 5-stars for me. watching ppl self sabotage really gets to me. like i just hate it. when someone has a clearly good thing in front of them and they just r willing to throw it away. i get irked.
which i think that the fact that i’m still able to give this book such high praise when self sabotage it running rampant through this book, speaks volumes.
just a really cute, amazing book
