I found that the premise behind this book was interesting but there was too much filler between the points of action. A lot of back and forth going over what we know already.

I've read several Dean Koontz novels. This is one of his earlier novels. I really enjoyed the story, because it didn't have the usual characters (the dog). There was a definite creepy factor.
First time reading a book from this author and all I can say is that I clearly missed something.
At first I thought that I was reading a thriller but then I quickly realised that this is a mix between fantasy and science fiction.
The beginning introduces the story in a really nice mysterious way and hooks you straight away.
You then think about half a dozen possibilities and keep on wondering what the hell is going on. The author clearly has a lot of imagination and knows how to build an excellent story.
This book is packed with action, mystery and questions. You won't be able to put this book down as it keeps on providing enough information to keep you hooked and want more.
The characters are written in an excellent way and they really get to you.
They will make you scream, cry, hold your breath and keep your fingers crossed.
The ending is nothing like I had imagined when I first picked up this book, and you don't expect the ending that happens.

This is only my second Dean Koontz. I remember he was everywhere in the '80s when I was a teenager. I was a Stephen King girl. I really liked Odd Thomas so I gave phantoms a try. I almost DNFed halfway through. It was okay, not the best thing I've ever read but it was fine.
