In the 70s, the Archie comics were the second ones I ever discovered---right after Richie Rich. I enjoyed them for many years, and then forgot about Riverdale and all its residents. Then an Archie revival began, and last month I binge-watched Riverdale on Netflix, which was so very different from the group I remembered.

When I put this title on hold, I thought it was what that CW series was based on. Nope, this seems more like the old school Archie, though certainly with more vibrant, better-drawn art, and a more modern storyline.

I liked it, and now I've got a hold on the second volume. Thank you for updating my childhood faves, y'all!

I am incredibly happy with this reboot of Archie. The artwork of Fiona Staples is amazing combined with the writing makes a really fun and mature Archie for me to truly enjoy! If you loved this you might like a slightly darker take of Afterlife with Archie, Vol. 1: Escape from Riverdale ~Ashley

As far as Archie reboots go, I much preferred Afterlife with Archie. This new, updated, modern day Archie just didn't do it for me. They're still the usual tension between Betty and Veronica and Jughead is still around (although extra mopey in this version), but I couldn't get into it. As far as their appearances go, the illustrations are nice and they did a good job updating the old mega cartoony comic, I just hated the story line (although I did love the centipede joke, I'm a sucker for corny jokes). I'll pass on the rest in this series.

It was a pretty good book, but even though it didn't ruin the original comics, it gives off a different kind of vibe. It's not the same as the original comics, but it has a good storyline. Also, a lot of the characters and their backgrounds are different, which made me dislike it more than I would have. But other than that, I really liked the art style.

I first picked this one up based on the fact that show is now on CW. I havent really watched the show, but its been around for so long I thought I would give it a try. I liked it. The graphics were great and I was ready for the next show down between Veronica and Betty.
