Probably more of a 4 star overall but it's Archie comics and so it has my entire heart. Can't wait to read more of this fresh take on my long time favorite.

Okay I may have to start reading more graphic novels because they're such quick reads. I used to beg my mom at the checkout at Meijer to buy me the Archie or Betty & Veronica comic I was already reading while we waited. Normally I got my way, but sometimes I wasn't so lucky. Anyways, so I was very intrigued when I saw that they had re-vamped Archie. Well this new Archie did not disappoint. It's got all of the characters I loved in the originals, but this time I'm a little more informed about everything. Also I really enjoy Archie narrating/adding commentary on his life.

I was only vaguely aware of Archie and, honestly, had no real interest. If I needed a teenage love drama-thing, I'd read more Scott Pilgrim (and I'm probably ticking off both fantasies with this one accident - which shows how little room that broad genre has in my reading).

So why have I started reading the update? Well, I recently watched the current Sabrina-show and found out it's the same universe. That piqued my interest, so I at least wanted to take a look.

Long story short: No magic in Vol. 1, but lots of interesting characters which shine with unexplored lore and backstory.

Maybe I'm getting "too old" for teenage drama, maybe not. Maybe some witch will show up before, maybe not.
Let's find out.

PS: Fiona Staples is a name that carries a lot of weight for me since the first issue of Saga came out. Oh, how Saga changed my views on the whole medium. (Sorry, wrong review

Read this since I started watching Riverdale and decided to check out the re-vamped comics. It was enjoyable and light-hearted. I am interested to see how things develop in later issues and will be picking those up from the library as well.

As a die hard archie fan I really enjoyed this. it was fun to see archie revamped for current times still having that older feel.

Never read any Archie before, but this was good. It looks amazing, with Wu and Staples being some of my favorite artists.

so, i think this comic is showing a lot of potential. but the flow is very weird, and confusing. i feel like time is moving really fast but it's not shown very well? and it's very soapy. which i'm guessing is the point, but it's not like entertaining soapy. i'm hoping the pacing issues get fixed in the next volume, if not, i may not continue. kinda bummed, i wanted to love this.

Never read the original Archie, but binge-watched Riverdale so I ended up here. I really liked this? Fiona's art is AMAZING, I actually felt kind of disappointed when they changed the art midway through, but the story was pretty great.I loved Betty and Jughead, they're like in the show but just better? I don't know, I love both of them, and as it happened in the show, both Archie and Veronica bothered me somehow. Anyway, great start to this series! Will keep reading.

Enjoyed this first introduction to this new Archie series. I fell in love with the show Riverdale and wanted to find something relative to it that I could become addicted to as well. Even though these comics aren't as dark and addicting as the show was, I did still like this volume. I really like the artwork, it is different that what I have seen from other works done associated with Mark Waid's name on it which was refreshing. It was really nice to change up my usual DC comics binge and go for something that was more realistic. Overall, solid volume and already bought the second one and can;t wait to see what happens next.
