It took me forever to get through this and I restarted it a couple times, but once I got going, it was fine.

The second in the series by the new author is a big dip in quality. Not a bad novel, but not as good as the first 4 books in the series. A lot of this seemed like mundane thriller filler.
A lot of plot points were rehashed from earlier books in the series. More mystery about Lizbeth's past, involving a recent murder, an elderly yet dangerous government worker desperate to keep secrets secret, Salander behind bars again, more talk about financial institutions and stock markets, and on and on.
There's a lot here to like a lot. It's just that the spirit of the originals is here, but it feels more like a ghostly reflection of the spirited life of what came before. I'll finish up with #6, but if it doesn't up the ante, I might stop there.

I enjoyed the originals so much and I wanted to like this one. But...sigh... Even three stars is a stretch.
I'm impressed at how well Lagercrantz has continued the Millennium series. This latest addition is engaging and a page turner. Salander doesn't seem as central to the story, although all the characters surrounding her play important parts. There is an interesting back story on a twins-separated-at-birth experiment. And a fast-paced chase scene at the end. All in all I enjoyed reading it and look forward to the next one (and the movie of the first sequel).
A riveting addition to the Millennium series. Lisbeth Salander continues to be one of my favorite and most memorable characters.
This follow-on to the Millennium series is better than the first one written by Lagercrantz. It was entertaining, but the ending was wholly unsatisfying.

I definitely enjoyed reading this, I only tuned out a little with the action sequences at the end, but while it is great, I feel it's missing something. There wasn't a feeling of significant purpose. Characters were researching, people were learning things, but it lacked the danger of the previous entries. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I personally dislike action sequences and fight scenes, but without that this felt a little meandering and purposeless. Not only that but the characters didn't shine as strongly in this entry as they have I'm the past. That being said, I read it eagerly and didn't want to put it down. It's a great series and I've enjoyed everything I've read in it.
Less character development, less plot, less tension, just less everything than the previous books in the series, so less stars.
