Meh, I mean, it was alright. I finished it. But I did find myself setting it down and walking away several times when it was at critical parts of the story. Which at the time I even thought to myself "this just isn't that good if I'm putting it down right now". But I have been known to put books down and not pick them back up whenever I'm not enjoying them, so it wasn't THAT bad. Maybe just disappointing compared to the first three novels?

I love Lisbeth; however, Lagercrantz has not done her justice. Lisbeth is written more as a shadow than the complex individual we came to admire in the first book. This book was disappointing to say the least and read more like unfinished fan fiction.

I knew that this piece was starting behind with me, as I have a dim view of 'continued' series and was somewhat unimpressed by 'Girl in the Spiders Web' nonetheless these days I want to enjoy the books I read, and am totally willing to do my best to give the works I pick up a chance.

And for the first half of the story I didn't mind this one, the prose was a little blunt and the plotting a bit obvious, but I thought there was some genuine tension, particularly with Salander in prison trying to protect an innocent victim from a violent bully.

However as the story progressed I become less and less favourable, the head-hopping and telling scenes from multiple perspective gets pretty dull quickly, as it slows the pace. It was hard to have any interest in Dan (And twin that I have already forgotten the name of) as they seemed fairly distance from the main characters - and the multiple plot threads didn't so much wind together as distract from each other. Blomkist barely did a thing in the story and Salander kind of just did the same move over and over again until the story ended.

I think the ultimate sin of these books is that only Larson seemed to be able to capture the complexity of Salander, in Girl Who Takes... Lisbeth presents as a mildly cranky superhero, in the original books Larson managed to create a girl who was both victim and villain, caring and cold, nothing can really repeat that magic.

I think David once again did a good job of “attempting” to mirror Larson’s books but in most ways he fell short. However this was an entertaining read and he expertly wove in a new world with the one that Steig had already created! I look forward to finishing the series with the last book!

meh! with a little luck this will be the end of this franchise. this volume is lackluster and a parody of the series. pretty dreadful.

Not one of the best books in the series but I was interested enough to finish it in a few days.

I will always love the characters of this series but I thought this book wasn’t as good as some of the others. It wasn’t as suspenseful and there was less main character development than in past books. The story was interesting but I was almost surprised that I was halfway done because it didn’t have the details or intense mystery that some of the other books have had.

I feel like maybe David should have just let the first trilogy be all that there was for this story of Lisbeth from Stieg. These new books feel like a completely different story/focus and definitely a different Lisbeth. It does not feel like he has honored the story of Stieg and Lisbeth with this revamp of her. I also feel like she is not even a secondary character in her own book in this one. Now I feel like I have to read the last one just because I have read all the others. I hope that the 6th one will just be the last that he is trying to do this series. I know that Stieg Larsson had originally planned for this to be a 10 part series before his sudden death.

While Spider's Web was a decent followup to the original trilogy, Eye for an Eye is quite the disappointment. Lisbeth Salander is serving jail time for what she did while saving the autistic boy from the last book. As usual, Salander is causing all kind of trouble, pissing off an anti-Muslim group as well as the Russian Mafia. Also, Blomkvist is investigating a case of twins separated at birth. I had a really hard time focusing on the book. It seemed to jump all over the place from one story line to another. I did appreciate having a little back story on the origins of Lisbeth's tattoo though. It's something we've all been curious about, I'm sure.
