I appreciate the absence of the vulgar and crass that the first three books had. The new author's narrative is less complicated, which I'm ambivalent about, but I LOVE that there are not those explicit scenes.

I really enjoyed reading The Girl Who Takes and Eye for an Eye and I hope that David Lagercrantz will continue this series. Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist have the potential to tell more stories and I can't wait for a take down between Lisbeth and her twin sister, Camilla.

Excellent story.

This was a good read, but disappointing. Lisbeth Salander was hardly present and when she was, she appeared more of a cardboard cut out figure than a real person. Her character is one of the main reasons why I continue to read these books after the first trilogy by Stieg Larsson. She is the brilliant, damaged, dysfunctional, super hero star of the series. Can you tell that I think she's great? As far as I'm concerned, she should be central to these stories, continuing to wreak revenge on bullies and criminals by dint of her sheer brains and brilliance, to say nothing of her martial arts and self defense skills. I know that she did do that in this book, and managed to get herself beaten up a few times to achieve this, but still, she seemed removed from the central focus of it all.

I didn't love this one.
there was a lot going on and the stories were only mildly related.
the pacing was good though.

It was alright. Just not like the original trilogy and I miss that style of writing and intrigue.

I have a bad habit about getting excited about books.... running out to buy a copy when the book is released and then letting it sit. And this book sat for years decorating my shelves. Then I went to a cafe that had a little free library in its shop. And here I found a well-used paperback of this book. The book is already in paperback while I had the pristine hardcover!

And that’s the game I play with myself, do I read the hardcover, which is bulky and clumsy before the paperback comes out. So many hardcovers on my shelf. Well, I grabbed that paperback since they are easier to read, and read that.

I had to look to Good Read to refresh my memory about the book before... The Girl in the Spider’s Web. Turns out I did like it. And I read it FIVE years ago! Not sure why I waited so long. I loved this book. It was nice to be back in Sweden again. Instead of excessive amounts of coffee, Bloomvist was interviewing hard core witnesses who preferred alcohol. And he was back to having sex. And he was a gift to women. The book was good... ending on a cliffhanger each chapter. So it fueled my need to just keep reading. I loved it. But it just made me mourn Stieg Larsson’s death all over again. I feel like Salander talked way to much in this book. She wouldn’t have done that with Larsson. Let’s hope it doesn’t take another five years to read the next book!

Just an all around phenomenal series. Ready for book 6! Need another Lisbeth v. Camilla showdown!
I just love Lisbeth and Mikael
