Un'opera visionaria giustamente considerata una pietra miliare della fantascienza.
Ma per fare una bella storia non basta l'idea geniale, servono personaggi credibili e uno sviluppo interessante, che mancano. Qui i personaggi fanno cose e vedono gente.

I have somehow developed an inability to review books after I finish them.
I loved reading Solaris, it felt like I was back at uni in the best way possible. I got so into analysing the story and finding elements that support my interpretation. Thanks Alex!
Solaris is such an interesting concept. A space adventure that actually feels very grounded in the human mind - there is literally no way Lem was not a little bit obsessed with Freud. When arriving at Solaris, our characters start experiencing the return of people/memories from their past.
While this is a very psychoanalytical concept, I viewed it through the lens of colonialism. Space exploration always has a colonial aspect to it, and this one was felt like a comment on this history. The planet and its land is entirely absent from the novel, instead we meet people. Solaris is a planet of human beings and it is not what you expect (it does not abide by the colonial gaze).

I really like the core idea. Some descriptions of the historical background and the nature are a bit dry though.
