Fantastic! I loved Holt the OG. This was such a genuine story and it showed that you never know what life throws at you.
I did not see Holt Green coming. I may have a new favorite in the Towel Brigade!
Well, well, well. I did not see Holt Green coming. I thought he was going to be a shyer guy, a little more reserved given the limited details in the previous books in which he was a side character. Boy was I wrong. Man, the mouth on that guy. Phew. I loved it. He was also so honest, sometimes to his detriment, genuine, funny, and caring. I felt a little like Harmony in that I was gobsmacked by him. It was so believable that they fell so hard and fast for each other. They were such a perfect match, and balanced each other so ideally.
Meghan’s characters always have so much depth. You understand the bad decisions, the things that go wrong. It would be so easy to make the same choices in the same situation. With this, the growth is always so sincere and important to the story, to the couple’s future. Harmony changed the most in this story, but it was a shift in outlook, in perspective, and what’s important. Holt grew as a man. It was a growth of character, not a change in personality. They stayed fun, and playful, and adorable.
Holt and Harmony are the youngest couple in the Towel Brigade to get their HEA, but this couple’s communication, growth, willingness to be what the other needs may be the most mature of all the couples. You believe they will make it work despite the road ahead. I really loved this couple.

Holt Green. He is on a whole different level. He has so many different layers. I love that he isn’t the typical spoiled, rich, jerk baseball player. He has such a positive outlook on life, he lives it to the absolute fullest and he is just over the top in the best possible ways. Harmony Styles. She is hard working. She is full of sass. She can banter back and forth with Holt like it’s her job. She’s been hurt in the past when it comes to athletes, so I loved that she doesn’t give into Holt easily.
I absolutely adored everything about Holt and Harmony. These two have amazing chemistry and the banter between them was perfection. I couldn’t get enough of it. I loved seeing how Holt and Harmony’s relationship progressed from their first meeting, to the continued flirting, to the friendship they formed and continuing into something more from there.
I loved that we got more of the Brentwood boys, too. These guys have a great friendship and I loved every moment of it. The Strike Out does take place before the other stories, with some slight over lap with the timeline of The Locker Room.
The Strike Out had me laughing so hard I was crying, then it broke my heart and had me ugly crying. This story was unexpectedly emotional, but all the tears were completely worth it. Holt and Harmony’s story is truly beautiful.
If you’re looking for a slow burn sports romance with plenty of banter this one is a must read.

So many things I loved about this book.
1. I have never read a baseball sports romance, somehow I found myself wanting to know about baseball while reading.
2. Holt Green is the ULTIMATE book boyfriend. He is witty, perverted, charming, caring, kind. I loved that he was willing to do ANYTHING to ensure his future with Harmony was secured.
3. Holt's inner monologue. So many points I found myself laughing out loud. He literally speaks to the readers.
4. Harmony was never once a doormat. She stood her ground, never gave into things that she wasn't 100% sure on.
Meghan Quinn does an exceptional job at writing great characters.

Holt might be my new favorite!
I love all of these baseball boys but a few are my all time favorites. This was slow burn and I loved the way that Holt and Harmony's story played out. Holt had me swooning so hard and laughing at his over the top flirting and innuendos. He's a baseball player who goes after what he wants and is determined to follow through. Harmony has always thought that all baseball players are players. However, when Holt sets his eyes on her, he is determined to break her down and prove that she's wrong.
These two are the perfect match for each other. Holt, confident and determined to get what he wants, and Harmony, constantly keeping him on his toes. They were made for each other.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

Having struggled with The Setup (I’ve been stuck at 20% since it released but I’m determined to not DNF it), I was a little bit apprehensive going into The Strike Out because of how excited I’ve been for Holt and his mystery woman since reading The Locker Room over a year ago. But I should’ve known that Meghan did right by our boy Holt, and he was everything I wanted and more, and his girl was his perfect match.
Holt is getting ready to enter the baseball draft in his junior year of Brentwood college, when he meets Harmony, the waitress serving him and his drunk friends at a diner. Harmony has so many opinions about Brentwood athletes and takes an instant dislike to Holt, thinking they’re all the same after being treated badly by one, but he feels something different with her and knows he needs to pursue it. He tracks her down and inserts himself into her life, which she tries to escape and is vocally against but secretly likes, especially as Harmony begins to realise that all her preconceived judgements on Holt were completely off. But she has two goals in mind, her studies and an internship, until Holt starts to prove to her how much he likes her and that his feelings are genuine. They begin dating, with things escalating quickly as feelings become more and they spend as much time together as they can. But when life as they know it is about to change, with Holt entering the draft and other moving parts, will they be able to find a way through it together?
There was something different about The Strikeout to the other books in the series. It still had the heat, the alpha hero, the feisty heroine and the humour and banter that you come to expect from Meghan, but Holt and Harmony’s story felt more realistic to me, because there was very little unnecessary drama. It was about two people, one of whom knew what he wanted, and the other who was nervous about going after someone she knew could break her heart, and how they fell completely in love.
Harmony’s preconceived notions about athletes were warranted, which is why her guard was up with Holt for a long time. But his persistence and ability to just be himself managed to win Harmony around by showing her how much of a genuine guy he was, the real him, not the super star athlete she thought. I sympathised with her and her nervousness about being vulnerable, but in the end I admired her strength more than anything, because she took the right steps for her, even if it broke her heart, and I loved that she came to realise what she wanted on her own, without being pushed by others.
Holt was the ultimate book boyfriend, and I am not even exaggerating. He was a true romantic and I found myself blushing, sweating and just grinning at the things he would say and do to win Harmony’s affection. He was quick-witted, obnoxious and full of innuendoes but so patient with her, loving her whole heartedly, and his worry over their future was almost their downfall, purely because he just wanted her to be happy. His personality was the perfect balance of wit, alpha and caring, and his determination to prove to Harmony that his intentions were real was so attractive, he saw what he wanted in his future and went after it.
When I reached towards the end and realised how much of a whirlwind their romance had been, it really didn’t feel like it had been. It wasn’t an insta love romance, it just moved quite quickly once they got together, but Holt and Harmony just clicked, with their banter and bickering, the way they bounced off each other and with how hard Holt worked to win her round meant that in no way was I shocked at the speed things progressed with them. Their relationship is one of my favourites from this series, because they just fit, their dynamic is indescribable, and the sparks fly. They were both such likable characters, and the drama was the right amount, none of it felt unnecessary, just like something any young couple would go through in their position. I knew it would take a lot to oust Maddox as my top hero from this series, but somehow Holt has done it. It was great to see some cameos from previous characters, including the one and only Jason, but I also liked the timeline of this book, being back in the boy’s college days. I loved Harmony’s bestie Priya too and hope she will find her own man to win her round, she was the ultimate wing woman for Holt whilst also having Harmony’s back.
I know I say this with most of Meghan’s books, but honestly this is one of my favourites by her yet. I haven't swooned like that over a fictional character in a long time, and it felt like a real romcom, with the courtship, the swoony and romantic moments which leave you with a massive smile, the foundation of friendship and then more when neither can deny the chemistry, with enough drama and angst to keep you on your toes. I cannot recommend The Strike Out enough, it’s another 5 stars for me!

The Strike Out by Meghan Quinn
Holt and his baseball buddies head out for one last night of fun before the beginning of school. Heading to the local diner for a bite to eat, Holt is stunned by the reaction that he receives from Harmony and becomes determined to make her realize that he is not the rich, arrogant athlete that she believes.
Holt and Harmony were a laugh out loud, page-turning, perfect way to start off 2021! Holt is so funny and genuine that he just makes you swoon. His love and passion for living the best life he can is refreshing. Harmony is strong and I loved how she was not afraid to speak her mind and give just as good as she got. The banter between them was classic and once Harmony finally gave Holt the green light their relationship heated up quickly.
I am looking forward to catching up on all of Meghan Quinn’s baseball books and she is quickly becoming a must-read author of mine.

Prepare to swoon.
I just loved everything about Holt and Harmony. It was the perfect sweet swoony story for them. Revisiting the Brentwood Baseball boys was a bonus too.

Harmony was funny, and so strong willed and independent that I loved her from the beginning and I loved that Holt liked all the facets of her personality. I thought the two of them were so good together and I really liked that they had so much support from their parents and friends. I was relieved that Harmony realized she was pushing Holt away unnecessarily and that they were stronger together.
