Not for me

I’m pissed at this book. It started off sooooo good with the banter and wittiness between Holt and Harmony. I thought to myself “oooo this is going to be a good one, I’ll buy it” (even though I have a million free books just begging to be read). However, around the 40% mark I started to get bored. Nothing was really happening apart from him being perfect and then taking things slow. Then this book got super cheesy like I wanted to roll my eyes constantly at the path this book went. Then at 80% this book completely changed and somehow this fun witty book turned into my all time HATED plot. This book tricked me into thinking it was a frenemies type thing and then hits me with THIS awful plot twist. I only tolerate it when I’m warned in a blurb or am reading a trilogy and even then I HATE it.

I hardly ever rate 1 star but I feel hoodwinked and I’m totally returning this book. Thank god Amazon has a good return policy.

I always love the banter of a good enemies to lovers. Accidental pregnancy isn’t typically my scene but it’s MQ so she pulled it off of course.

This is just a quick review to say I adored this story. It is sweet and steamy. It is fun and made me laugh out loud. I swooned and fell in love with these characters. I love Meghan's writing and I absolutely cannot wait for more from her.

I loved Holt! He was so sweet and worked on himself throughout his journey. I’m glad the 3rd act break up wasn’t as big as previous ones in this series.

Holt and Harmony meet at a diner one night whilst he’s out with his baseball buddies and she is their server. She has an ingrained hatred for all Brentwood athletes - of course due to previous bad experience - so is snarky and borderline rude to them all night. To be fair they’re all hammered and nobody wants to be the one serving the drunk guys, but her attitude is mostly unwarranted.

Regardless of her obvious disdain, Holt is immediately drawn to her. And so he spends the next few weeks trying to convince her to go out with him. Once she does, their romance is a whirlwind of fun and they both fall. Hard.

I spent the first few chapters of the book thinking I was going crazy because it all felt so familiar, but according to my Goodreads and Instagram pages, I definitely hadn’t read the book. However, part of it was featured as a novella in the Team Player 2 anthology! So I’m not nuts. We’re good. Phew!

Holt is such a fun character! Witty, charming, funny, sweet AND has an alpha side? Yes please! He’s like if Ryan Reynolds and a sweet, romantic caveman (is that a thing?) had a lovechild.

Harmony was his perfect match, too. Sweet, loyal, sassy, sarcastic, takes no shit.

They both have their insecurities and weak moments but that’s what makes them real!

Also, no mega long break up this time!

“Remember that Hallmark movie where the couple was split up for eight years? What kind of crap is that?” Touché Ms Quinn, touché.
