Just can’t get into the disjointed way these are written, along with the curtly snark of dialogue.

It's a middle of the road Agatha Raisin novel. Nothing to get excited about, but it passes the time.

This is a good cozy mystery. I like the main character even if sometimes her characteristics make me shake my head. There is usually a lot going on in the books with some things that happen that was not expecting. The story had a good flow. I did listen to it on audio which was a newer experience for me. The narrator was good and did different voices for the different characters, well enough that you could tell sometimes who was talking. Good over all book.

Uhhh..... I'm not sure what I just read. I love the Agatha Raisin books, but this was just a bit too 'eh?' for me.

It was all over the place. The narrative was jumpy, the characters numerous, the storyline was all over the place and some of it was just plain weird.

Not sure what happened to MC Beaton when she wrote this one, but she goes on about body odour, people defecating on desks... It was all a bit much.

I, of course, will be reading the other books that I've not read yet, it hasn't put me off because I know how good they have been before this one, but if I'd have read this as my first Agatha Raisin then I imagine I would have stopped there.

I'd not recommend this particular one, but do go and read the others, they are usually fab!

I'm a big fan of Agatha Raisin and I liked this book even if it's not the best one in this series.
As usual once I started I couldn't put it down and I laughed a lot as well as trying to guess what the next love interest or the next murder victim would be.
Agatha is less bubbly and more introspective in this book and a lot is going with an open ending with wall will be her life in the next book.
The mystery part was fun to read and engaging, the cast of characters is as lovely as usual.
I recommend it but not if you never read any other book in this series. The TV show does not count.
Many thanks to St. Martin Press and Netgalley for this ARC
