I love the Discworld Death. He's one of my favorite characters. I didn't appreciate this book as much when I read it the first time but this was much better the second time.

Unlike with Mort, I actually noticed the chapter thing. Says a lot for Mort that I didn't with that one as I was so excited to read on. I have mixed feelings about it - the scenes aren't long enough for chapters so it means making your own but hey that will keep each reread fresh!
I liked having more about Death and his new adventure. I liked the wizard's story too. I even liked/loved the bit with the trees and mayflies. I didn't really get the bit with the trolleys.
Pratchett is so funny. I love his humour.
When I say slow paced, I do not  mean bad! I mean if you slow down a bit you will notice his writing and it's worth it. His wry comments, puns and interesting way of seeing the world. I love it. With some writers the main thing is hurrying to the next plot point but Pratchett isn't just about that.

OK, now that I've been properly introduced to DEATH, I'm flying through this series. I just finished DEATH #2 yesterday and I'm 100 pages into DEATH #3 and have DEATH #4 on reserve at the library since my friend that got me hooked is on vacation (and I probably shouldn't break into his house to search for it).

Characters: 4.5*
Plot: 4*
Universe: 4.5*

While the main character is the same and we are introduced to more side characters in this book, I'm docking this book half a star because the overall quality of the characters weren't as well developed as the first book in the DEATH series. At this point though, I'm being a bit nit picky as the book was still a very fun read (but still, if you aren't a fan of the humor of Douglas Adams, I would skip the entire Discworld series).

The plot seemed a bit weaker, but still a lot of fun and it moved along quickly.

The universe here was just as fun as in the first book. I do love a book where the universe itself is fleshed out and impacts the series.

Sorry to cut this review short, but Soul Music (Death #3) awaits me!

To był re-read. Najpierw chciałem obniżyć na 7 z 10, ale ostatnie kilkanaście kartek było... wystarczające na 9.
