Everyone should read this letter at least once.

Listened to a recording of his sermon, very very powerful speaker. Felt his voice through to my core.

shows that radicality doesn't need to be violent or destructive, that it needs to be based on philosophy and self-reflection and that christianity can be the foundation of emancipation

The fact that he had to spend some time just for his just opinion upon unjust laws, still baffles me.

As with all of King's writings, I was moved and inspired. He expressed my sentiments about the religious leaders of the day. Where were they? Why did they not preach against the injustice of segregation laws and racism? They did not want to get involved in such matters. It is the same today with the environment. Clergyman do not want to get involved in this argument about saving the Earth, when to me, it seems the most important "religious" matter on our agenda today.

Such an incredible & poignant letter by the late Martin Luther King Jr. There were so many sentences where I would have to stop and take in the powerful statements being made. His pleas were heartbreaking. Can't recommend this enough to anyone who wants to read about the brutal reality of being Black in the 60s fighting for their rights, and having it constantly denied

I popped this in my pocket to read whilst standing in queues - bought it ages ago because I liked the series design. It has been a difficult year and I was feeling a tad low. This lifted my spirits and made me feel stronger to face all we will have to in the coming days. You don't need to ascribe to the Christian message (I don't) - Martin Luther King, Jr clearly respects all traditions that acknowledge a divine presence - to benefit from reading his inspiring, thoughtful, just-makes-sense words.
I am seriously considering purchasing multiple copies to hand out to friends and strangers!
