My first Claire Cook and perhaps my last. This is more Danielle Steele than Danielle Steele, which I've never been into. Couldn't wait to finish this sappy, 'it's all about me' drivel. Sorry this is harsh but just not my cuppa. One star for effort but barely. :/

I got about halfway through and could not bring myself to care about what happens. Not finished.

This book was ok.

I'm tired of characters complaining about their weight and about their lives until something just POOF lands in front of them to change their attitude. And having just read another Claire Cook book (Whitewater Walking Club) it seems to me that's what her main characters do. They are passive until life intervenes.

I am a fan of Dancing with the Stars so I enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the practice sessions, the costume fittings, the makeovers.

Quick fun read, especially if you are a Dancing with the Stars fan.

Cute easy read.

If you're looking for a layered piece of philosophic artistry...keep looking. It's not here. But, what Cook gives us is equally rewarding. It's an extremely relatable story of searching for ourselves and taking chances. Oh, and a cute love story, too! Definitely a perfect summer read, as are all of hers. Oh, and I've never watched "Stars" but didn't feel that was a main theme. I am, however, a huge "Dead Head" so, just like Deirdre's parents, I have "Truckin" on 4th play repeat, as well. :)

Very good book. Definitely will read more.

I really hate "chick lit", but at my little suburban train station people leave books for others to take, so I grabbed this out of boredom. TERRIBLE. I should have known when I saw this author also wrote Must Love Dogs. Someone made me watch that movie and I hated it. I hate "chick flicks", I hate "chick lit". That is all.

Oops, I should have been making dinner, but I had to finish reading this book.

Nobody writes ordinary middle-aged women like Claire Cook. She makes them interesting, and in doing so, gives hope for our lives being interesting too.

Deidre Griffin has a life many dream of, flying around the world being a personal assistant to her high maintenance New Age Guru Brother, Tag. This role seems to make her the wallflower of the family. Deidre decides to use Tag’s millions of online followers to get her a spot on Dancing with the Stars. Maybe stepping in front of the camera will help her mentally and physically earning her 15 minutes of fame.

Wallflower in bloom is a perfect summer read, although I read it in the fall and it is still perfect. Starting with the title, showing there is hope for a wallflower to come into her own. Most of us either know or are a wallflower, someone who goes out but stays in the shadows. I loved watching Deidre come out of the shadows and bloom into a self ensured, non-pushover woman.

The “chiasmus” at the beginning of each chapter were great. They gave a little insight into what was coming in the chapter and often made me smile and nod my head. If you don’t know what a “chiasmus” is you definitely will by the end of the book.

I loved that this was a story of family and that even when someone seemingly changes the game plan they still come together and support each other wanting each other to succeed.

Whether a Dancing with the Stars fan or not everyone will love this book. Claire Cook’s great sense of humor shines through. If you have a family that sometimes drives you crazy you will definitely relate.
Actually, anyone who is looking to read a great chic-lit book will love Wallflower in Bloom.
