I’ve been following the scientific developments of CRISPR-Cas9 for a while and had heard Jennifer Doudna speak about her work a few years ago, so I was excited to learn more from this book. I think Isaacson (and other science writers) makes the point that you can’t really separate the science from the people who do the science if you want the full story. And the people themselves are equally fascinating. The first half was a little dry, but things got more interesting for me when it got into bioethics and the implications of this new technology. It’ll be cool to see what kind of future this leads us to.

Not up to the mark as you would expect from Walter Isaacson. Still, his writing keeps binding. He is a wonderful biographer.
