A very simplified version of the movie. The more violent pranks were left out - no firecrackers, nails, or fire here! And they left out one of my favorite parts - when he pretends he's having a big house party with mannequins and cardboard Michael Jordan. Cute book overall.

Home Alone is one of my favorite movies and getting the book as an early Christmas present brought back memories of all my favorite moments from the movie. The pictures are great and show the goofiness of the story. Who doesn't love Home Alone?!

What a great picture book interpretation of Home Alone. Has all the key funny moments but I think the book is sweeter than the movie.

Genius! The people that loved his as kids are now old enough to have kids of their own. They’ll see this book and want to share it with them. It was awesome. I have the movie memorized, so I noticed a few differences, but overall, it was true to the movie. Amazing. I think I need it.

Cute for a read-aloud, but didn't have all the fun of the movie. I honestly felt like if you haven't seen the movie, the plot won't make much sense. In my opinion this book just highlighted major plot points from the movie, almost assuming the reader had the movie's background knowledge. Cute, but might not make sense for everyone.

2023 Re-Read - 3 stars
As a Home Alone enthusiast, this is a must-have book for my collection! It has absolutely STUNNING illustrations but the story is cut down so much that its missing a lot of the elements that make its movie counterpart a classic.

This is obviously a children's storybook and would be a great introduction to the franchise if a younger reader hasn't watched the film yet. But for the greater population who has grown up with the slapstick comedy, this doesn't add much to the Home Alone experience aside from beautiful artwork.

Original Read (2016) - 3 stars>/b>
