Gnarly and a relatively quick read. Not as gross as I thought it’d be tbh, but certain scenes still made me cringe while reading.
Related to the family dynamics at play here, I too had my family situation fucked up from a father’s infidelity and became a pillar for my mother during those times that led to feelings of resentment and unresolved anger and trauma from it all. I guess at least I didn’t start wanting to cut and eat people’s eyeballs.. just developed a drinking problem for a while. 🥸 Here’s to all the eldest daughters who may or may not crack under all the pressures that get placed upon us 🥂

I wish there was further examination of why the eyes had to be blue (not just whiteness but aryan whiteness, drawing back to how even in this racial hierarchy, there exists levels inside of each race. Could also be that Geoffrey is explicitly a not perfect white, hence her refusal to consume him). Also she victimizes a homeless man and I really hated it. Wish there was literally any class conscious examination of that act. The racism and fetishization felt like it was being spoon fed to someone who just emerged from the mormon church and didn’t understand those words. A bit too exaggerated and literal, (George’s obsession with asian food and the chopsticks gift) a more subtle approach could’ve been more impactful. Why the eyes, instead of an ear or lips, I really don’t understand still. Perhaps that’s on me. The ending requires a bit suspension of belief but apart from that cool storyline. She’s a real fucking killer i guess.
