This book made me feel so many different emotions but by the end I was definitely crying. Such a tragically beautiful book with a beautiful message. I will be putting Lanston’s quote on the back of a sweatshirt. Well done

3.5. Well this was incredibly dark and sad. I found myself relating to a lot of the characters mental struggles and the painful way they are brought together. I knew this story was going to end sad and I definitely cried but I feel this book suffered a bit with the pacing. I have to admit I also expected it to end a bit more tragically than it did, but I think that’s just my twisted mind wanting more pain. The depiction of mental illness in this book however is very real and raw so please check triggers before diving into this book. Very glad I finally took this one off the shelf.

This is a heavy book. Highly suggest you check your triggers, especially if you struggle with your own mental health. It left me feeling a little foggy and overall just sad. The characters are so believable and raw. Even the antagonist broke me. They were all so incredibly fragile and splintered. So desperate for an alternative, a “cure”. It really opens your eyes to the struggles that can come from mental illness. It will leave you heartbroken for people across the world dealing with similar struggles.
