The characters were likeable, but I didn't really love them. I enjoyed the story and Stacy Reid's wonderful writing, however I would have liked some more groveling from the hero. Also, I thought Evie got off waay to easy, it somewhat annoyed me actually..

Wanted more character development and a less sudden ending.

A nice fluffy romance with some angst thrown in.

A good 4 star read. I thought the pacing of the story was great and the premise interesting too

Mid and fuck the pregnancy (TWINS?!) trope

This is a new author for me & if this is how the rest of her books are, I’m hooked. I love stories with a captivating first chapter and then keeps a swift pace. Add in charming children, an emotionally wounded but honorable hero, and a likable female main character and it comes together really well. Heartfelt and exciting! I’ve already started the second book in this series (& it’s off to a running start as well!).

I'm just as shocked as everyone else to not have loved this Stacy Reid novel. The first bit started out promising, but once Adeline and Edmond marry and go to Rosette Park, things quickly go downhill. The characterizations are flat, I didn't feel the chemistry between Adeline and Edmond, and the plot is entirely predictable (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I could've named the conflict well before it happened). I only wish Adeline had cussed out everyone who wronged her in the story, because it was damn near everyone. She's lucky the duke was hot and broody and not a mad, wife-murdering maniac like everyone else thought he was--and thought it was okay to sacrifice Adel to his whims. Otherwise this would've been a very different story.
