Residents of a sleepy coastal town become obsessed with spirals, spreading madness and spiral-based terror. Lots of creepy moments and brutal body horror, and some excellently awful art.
This is the first backwards and right-to-left manga I've managed to read in full, I really have to remind myself to read the book in the correct progression on every page, which makes it hard to sink into a story. For this one? That's okay! Because I started seeing spirals and fibonacci patterns EVERYWHERE. On my boyfriend's shirt. My slice of cabbage. The walkway outside work. Dude. Not cool! Spirals are too awesome to fear.

It’s a fun read if you’re into Japanese horror. The art is really good and it’s funny to see how he creates these weird objects with spirals.

Very beautiful art and and intriguing story
4.5 stars overall
First read of Asian Readathon 2020!!! I read it on the airplane home.
I loved the first three chapters, 5 stars for those three. The first two chapters were a really great, creepy way to set up the scene for the rest of the novel, starting with Shuichi's parents. Shuichi is honestly this graphic novel's MVP. Every time something goes wrong he knows what's up and everyone else is oblivious.
The 4th chapter was the weakest to me. I didn't find it that scary and the ending was very abrupt.
5th chapter wasn’t super scary but I enjoyed the ending. I'd like to think that it actually ended on a pretty positive note. I'd like to imagine that
Last chapter was also not super scary but I also enjoyed the ending. The artwork in this chapter was my favorite because I liked the bit of gore at the beginning plus the zombie-looking classmate when she shriveled up. I was also super happy Shuichi came to saved the day.
