5 ‘’The Grand Adventures of Dickhead and Asshole’’ stars

’’Everything does change when you meet the person meant for you,” Royce said. “I crave things I never realized I wanted before, and I find myself suddenly impatient to have them. Blanket forts and glitter slime were things I had planned to experience only as a favorite, honorary uncle, but never as a father, until I met you, and now I can’t wait. Someday, I’m going to make you mine in every possible way, and we’re going to raise some hellions.”

I don’t have much to say except gloat about how fucking much I adore Sawyer and Royce. Holy shit. These two have become two of my favourite book characters of all time. Like always, I adore Sawyer’s tenderness and calm compared to Royce’s recklessness, they make the perfect foil for each other. They’re so perfect for each other, both as partners during their detective work and as life partners.

The murder case we were following in this one was really damn interesting and I really enjoyed all that went on with that. The previous two books in this series were really fast passed and fascinating to read and it was the case here too. But this one was the most interesting one to me. It just had something about it that pulled me in and didn’t want to let me go.

But lets be honest, as much as I enjoyed following the case, what I loved the most, as always, was the relationship between Sawyer and Royce. I fucking adore how much these two communicate, they always talk about their problems and not once do they not communicate about their issues. Every time an issue arrived, they stayed calm and talked to the other about it and I loved that so so much. And I adored how they had no secrets, they shared everything with the other and it was so damn nice to see. Them already being in a very established and commited relationship could have been the perfect moment for them to start not communicating, but thankfully that didn’t happen. They communicated perfectly about everything and were as much in love as always, which was so fucking nice to see. I loved reading about them doing their job and about them being madly in love with each other. I had such a good time while reading this book. I kept swooning because Locke and Key are just the best together.

A couple of things I adored that deserve a special mention are jealous Royce, god that was so great, the way these two tease each other, I have always loved how their pet names for each are Asshole and Dickhead and I loved how comfortable they are with each other. These two didn’t hide anything from the other and I just adore their communication so so much.

A couple examples of how swoony these two are:

Exhibit A:
“In case you haven’t figured it out yet, you’re my prize. I fucking love you.”

Exhibit B:
. . . but Sawyer was his key to everything he’d ever wanted, plus the things he’d never allowed himself to wish for when he blew out birthday candles as a kid. Sawyer was his everything.

Exhibit C:
“Of course, I believe you,” Royce said, reaching over to cup the back of Sawyer’s neck. “I’m the second half of this whole, so I know damn well what we have is precious and rare.”

I don’t have anything else to say, this series is fucking brillant and Royce Locke and Sawyer Key are two of my favourite book characters ever, I love them so damn much. But mostly, I just love them together, they’re so fucking perfect for each other.

This trilogy wasn't bad, but it didn't blow my mind either. I don't know if I'll read other books by this author.

This is the last book in the first trilogy and is in both of their POVs. We see Sawyer come home from the hospital and we see how he is coming to terms with what happened in the last book. A case from Royce's past comes back to haunt him. Evidence from the case is missing and now Franco Humphries is a free man, leaving them to investigate the case again. It will take everyone to bring the case to its final conclusion.

I loved seeing everyone work together and for Felix and Sawyer to bury the hatchet. I adore all of the secondary characters, especially Sawyer's family. We have a new chief of Police, Mendoza.

The case results in a big showdown that had me worried for Royce. I loved meeting Sheriff Beecham, there was some sexual tension between him and Mendoza. I'm just happy we get their book soon!

Royce and Sawyer, have come a long way from the first book. Sawyer is finally living his life, and Royce is much happier, open, and not so grumpy. I just adored their character growth! I will never have enough of this pair and will always be happy reading more of this duo.

Good Ending

I enjoyed this final book in the trilogy. Everything was wrapped up nicely in the end. I can’t wait to read more about the characters in future books.

HELLO I LOVED THIS THANK YOU.
Yeah, look. I don't have anything more coherent to say about this. Sawyer and Royce are lovely and I can't wait to read their second trilogy. But first, I need to re-read Sinister in Savannah and try to figure out where the stand alones fit in the timeline because I can't find a reading order list.

Took me a bit to get to this one even though I loved the previous two books and I was highly anticipating it. Life sometimes gets in the way and also it somehow got buried on my TBR list so bad I didn't remember it until I saw the spin off Ride the Lightning was out. Woops bad girl, but I immediately rectified it and have since read both in two days haha.

This book, unlike the previous two, is in dual POV. I was happy because this is my preferred when it comes to romance and I like getting both perspectives on the same moment/ conversation. I get frustrated when I don't know the inner thoughts of one of the MCs. That's just my personal taste.

Sawyer and Royce are fully invested in one another in this book and also on nailing the Savannah Strangler to the wall. There is there usual fun banter and pet names for one another. We get more information and some closure on Marcus' death. As far as endings go this one wrapped up pretty nicely.

Someday, I’m going to make you mine in every possible way, and we’re going to raise some hellions.

Aimee Nicole Walker did mention at the end that this will not be the last we see of the alpha duo. Not only will we get cameos in the spin off series Sinister in Savannah, but there may be follow up novellas/ books down the line. You won't hear me complain.

This was a cracking finale to what has been a brilliant trilogy, and it left me wanting more.

As Royce and Sawyer have firmly established themselves as a wonderful duo both personally and professionally and I have truly enjoyed seeing them grow and change since their first case together.

And this case was intriguing, suspenseful and had the perfect blend of mystery considering I knew who the guilty party was. However, there were still plenty of twists, and I was completely hooked throughout.

Not to mention questions were finally answered as to why Royce's former partner Marcus felt he had no alternative but to commit suicide, and a frank discussion with Candi over his behaviour during the last three years helps Royce to begin to heal and remember the good times rather than the bad.

And with a few other loose ends tied up, and plenty of room left for more stories from these two in the future plus lots of great secondary characters who it seems will be featured in stories of their own this really was a gripping read, and one I would happily recommend to others.
