A beautifully written story. So vivid in its imagery. Like any great journey there are twists and turns, monsters to overcome and love to be requited.

While this didn't grab me in quite the same way as Boy Swallows Universe (which I absolutely adored), Trent Dalton's writing is just as beautiful - so lyrical and descriptive of the Australian landscape.

Trent Dalton has such a way of depicting inherited trauma and people living on the fringes of society. I did find that some of the side characters felt a little bit like caricatures, particularly Greta and Long Coat Bob.

I will definitely continue to check out future releases from Trent Dalton.

I didn’t enjoy this anywhere near as much as Boy Swallow Universe. The abuse against Molly was part of the reason and the fact that I struggled to believe that a girl as young as her could think and say the things she did. I only stuck with it to see how it ended.

Anyone who doesn't love this book has a heart of stone ♡

Some people will really love this book, for me it was just a bit slow. Really well read by Ruby Rees, her Molly voice was bang on! This one is a more meandering inner journey than Boy Swallows Universe, but a great story nonetheless. I’m glad I read it, and really appreciate how it shows our great Australian land and it’s Indigneous peoples
