i definetely did not enjoy this as much as nowlin's other novels, but i always find her characters interesting and fun. i love ramona's spiky hair and tom's infatuation with glitter. this book was a fun read and i was kind of surprised by what happens, but definitely not a big plot twist like her other books.

this book was a chore to get through. i didn’t enjoy it at all. it was cringy, frustrating, borning, and unfulfilling
Not at all the kind of book I thought it was going to be. I had read if he had been with me and if only I had told her and loved the books. This book I believe was written for older elementary school aged or middle school aged children. It’s good for understanding asexuality if you are wanting to learn about it, but only if you have zero clue what it is because the book doesn’t explain a lot of what it is. There’s a character who is asexual and their feelings get explained. It’s a cute book for sure, but extremely low level plot wise and reading level wise. Would be boring if you’re above the age of 12-14
While the summary on the back cover was enough to sell me, the writing style of the author did not grab me. This is probably for a younger audience than me.

"I still play piano, but I play the drums too. Loving the drums hasn’t made me love piano less. Just as Sam has stayed in my heart even after I fell for Tom. Some things, it seems, are always the same even after things change."
🎶
TSINFY feels like it was ahead of its time when it was originally published.
My favorite part was the parallels between all 3 of them loving music but yet also wanting to pursue something else alongside. The same way they all loved each other but only Ramona & Tom initially dated until it turned into three.
I'll admit its very unconventional having a relationship like this for teens but Laura Nowlin somehow writes it in a way that seems innocent & uncomplicated. Though I kinda wish Ramona chose Sam & they all stayed best friends with Tom 🙈
Laura's writing style shouldn't work coz its not executed in the usual professional manner but she has her own unique way that can come off perhaps choppy but once you get into it,it's actually pretty cool how she makes it work for her and the reader. She still has her prose intact with her newer books so as an author she's easily recognizable.
I love the way she makes everything seem simple. She tackles heavy themes but in a way that it's lighter for you to digest.
I liked that Sam,Ramona & Tom made their own world without a care. It was pretty badass. Each of the characters were powerful in their own ways.
When the title showed up on the last page I found myself smiling, overall it was an alright read with some nice moments. It has short chapters and with +-250 pages reads easy so you can quickly complete it.
