it was cute

It was cute. I enjoyed it. I didn’t really understand how he was so possessive of her after one night that we never see the interactions between the two. His nickname for her didn’t really feel genuine either. BUT it was a cute story and I liked it.

This book has the standard best-friends dad trope but so so well written. I was hooked from the second I opened the book to the second I finished it. Read the entire thing in a few hours because I just couldn’t put it down. Loved! Easy 5⭐️ for me!

The easiest 5 stars to give!!!
This book is one hell of journey, a journey of highs and lows, a journey of joy and pain, a journey of love and loss, a journey of hilarious moments and heartbreaking moments, and let me tell you its honestly worth every moment! I fell deeply for this book and it instantly became my favourite of Ashlee's which in fairness isn't hard because she is an incredible writer and I'm instantly hooked by her books!

Reese moves from London to New York to start a new job and new life after the pain and suffering she's had to endure but little did she know it would bring her on the path she meant to be on, a path that isn't always a smooth one, its rocky, we see Reese struggle letting go of the past, her rediscovering herself, her realising she deserves happiness, her ceating an unbreakable bond with bff connie, her finally let her guard down and allowing herself to want Killian
Killian is older, forbidden, alpha, possessive, carrying his own burdens and pain but the connection between him and Reese is undeniable but despite their feeling for each other both feel like to destined to end but fate has other plans for them.
Its not an easy love story for Reese and Killian, theres a lot of angst, push and pulling but when these two get together.... *chef kisses* its amazing the spice is so freaking good!!

This is a book that has a mixed bag of emotions.. tears, love, pain, anger, shock, suspense, angst, laughter. There was so many times Ashlee ripped my heart out but I forgive her lol because it was such a beautiful, incredible book that I don't think ill ever forget.

*Thank you Ashlee for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

The book starts out with heartbreak.

Elijah does in the prologue, the. The book starts 2 years later when Reece moves to NYC.

She meets Killian and has an instant connection. They try to fight it. End up getting plastered, and getting married.

Turns out that Killian is her best friend, Connie, dad. They decided to hide it from her.

They get an annulment. Connie finds out the same day Reece finds out that she is pregnant when Killian comes storming into her apartment. Connie obviously gets upset, but eventually comes around.

Reece goes to a psychic and gets a message from Elijah say that he put both Connie and Killian into her life and he can't wait to see her be the best mom ever.

Killian had a heart transplant. We find out at the end of the book, that his new heart was Elijah old one. The way Killian told her made me cry. ("“You lost a great love…” I nodded, sniffling as the burn in my throat caused me to gasp. “But you found a greater love in me. And I know I will never replace Elijah… I would never want to,” he held me, his lips pressing over each of my eyelids before he rested his forehead against mine. “This heart, it still beats for you my love… it’s only ever beat for you,” he pulled back, tilting my head up to look at him, “it will always only beat for you.”")

They have a little girl and still managed to honor Elijah in naming her.
