Dear Heart You Screwed Me by Ashlee Rose is an emotionally charged novel that delves into unexpected connections and the complexities of starting anew. Reese's journey to New York for a fresh start takes an unforeseen turn as she navigates a taboo romance with her best friend's father. The author has created a tale of passion, redemption, and the unpredictable twists that fictional life can bring. Ashlee Rose delivers a narrative that explores love, loss, and the resilience of the human heart in the face of unexpected challenges. Overall, it was a good read but it didn't draw me in the way I had hoped.

I like the idea of this book but it was poorly written. So many grammar mistakes!!! ‘I done’ instead of ‘I did’ was used throughout the entire book. As well as ‘they was’ instead of ‘they were’. I’m not great at grammar but these things are simple and should have been picked up during proof reads/editing. The plot was all over the place. It was also so repetitive with random little facts, such as how to make tea?? And how she was a Tom boy and didn’t like dresses, yet wore them all the time during the book?? I don’t think I’ll read anymore books by this author.
I was SUPER drawn to this one because the blurb drew me in, it checked my favorite trope boxes and I love a good "across the pond" romance moment. And perhaps I'm in a bit of a slump because I've just come off the heels of some very not-in-this-genre reading.. but this story felt like it was not sure what kind of story it wanted to be.
I will say, there are lovely passages about dealing with the loss of a loved one and I thought those were thoughtfully written. I also really enjoyed that our FMC Reese would recognize the red flags or big issues that arose with our MMC Killian.. but the hot and cold, back and forth, sometimes-kinks-but-sometimes-odd-relationship-dynamics made it hard for me to fall into a rhythm of reading this.
I did take it to the finish line and I'm happy to report that amidst the hot and cold, the diary therapy, overcoming huge secret keeping and personal loss/trauma there were some really well written scenes. I just don't think it spoke to me like I was anticipating it would.
I didn't see any content warnings listed online or within the author's site so:
- loss of a spouse off page
- fertility issues off page
- infidelity off page
- unplanned pregnancy of FMC on page

This book had me on the edge of my seat, the entire time. I couldn’t put the book down! I had a feeling I knew what the ending was going to be, but I was completely shocked. And the ending had me in tears. I honestly hope there is a book for Connie!
I fell for the TikTok hype with this one.
It was terrible per se but the confusing writing bad grammar from both an American and UK POV was annoying as all hell.

This was not for me and this is why however I don't like doing it I have rated it below 3 stars.
Truth be told I picked this up because I saw one line on tiktok about this book and I thought why not? That just shows that sometimes however good they sound doesn't mean you will like it.
Things that threw me off
1. There were too many plotholes
2. I don't see why the fmc feels that way for the mmc, the way they interacted didn't really give me any believable insta love vibes. I get why the mmc is hot, I also get why the fmc is hot but I do not get the chemistry.
3. The storyline about the mmc getting the heart could have been slowly built through out the book instead of just being explained towards the end
4. The accidental pregnancy... nuff said
As I said it's not for me, no hate for the book or the author. If you like this book good for you and I am seriously happy for you.
