Heck yeah! We finally get Ash and Cael’s story. I needed to know all about them the moment we met these characters and saw their adorable romance that was obviously more. Who can resist a story about a big, mean, but also a softie? And a small, tough, but also vulnerable? Both men have their pasts, complexities, baggage ... you name it. And we also continue to learn more about the other characters. It just adds to what we learned in the previous four books, both in regards to the story and to the characters.

Oh, and Ash and Cael are HOT together.

And you’ll love Tony aka Dex and Cael’s dad even more after this book. He’s awesome! I laugh every time he’s talking with his sons.

I think this book has the strongest plot so far. We get more information and answers, some closure, and for me - confirmation that I was right in predicting several things. A lot of loose ends are tied up, and a new element is introduced, so it’ll be interesting to see where the overarching plot takes us from here.

I am dying to read the next book! It will focus on Calvin and Hobbes ... and we all desperately need to know what the heck is going down with those two. The snippets from other books are just not enough! At least not for me.

Thanks you for this awesome series, Charlie!

I like the ship, I even liked the angst.

Mostly, I found this poorly written and annoying, and pretty much every plotpoint was infuriatingly convenient. I didn't hate it, and it had like three lines that made me chuckle, so not quite a one star read.

I loved getting to see a new perspective from the series, but unfortunately this just got a tad bit muddled up for me.

I'm a bit starry eyed right now. I've been curious to read about Ash and Cael's story since I first started this series and now that I've read it, I'm not disappointed. AT ALL.
It was lovely and soft and surprisingly void of the drama I was expecting. It still had it's fair share of pain, and Ash had to deal with his past and his being in the closet before he finally starts giving himself and Cael a chance to be really happy.
They were lovely together, sweet and protective, and I absolutely adored them individually too. Cael with his sweet and shy demeanor, his insecurities and scars, and Ash with his brashness and protectiveness, his big heart.
The story was compelling and it had a couple of "ohmygod this is so scary" bits that I can't wait to see developed. I'm starting Calvin and Hobbs story right now.

I'll copy this line from another review b/c it's basically exactly how I feel: I vacillated between mild enjoyment, annoyance, and boredom in this book.

I think my fav. part was
when Ash, Slone, and Hobbs are locked in the cages and Ash gets them to get their heads out of their asses and get it together
--> sort of loved Ash in this. Otherwise, it was all kinds of lame. I'd predicted sofa sex, given how Cael and Ash always play video games - except they didn't end up hooking up b/c Ash was being a super lamo lameness to the lamest and I got annoyed at Cael for feeling rejected. I thought Cael's past w/ his ex was well done - how he shut down - all that... and that thing w/ Sparks
how Dex and Slone could be a power couple
-- like where did that come from.

Additionally, the Austin/Zach (sp?) storyline came out of nowhere. I'm so sick of authors *cough* Jordan Castillo Price *cough* who want to create a series and just throw characters at you from previous books, what like am I supposed to remember them?

I was over this series after the last book and it legit took me MONTHS after having bought it to actually finish this one.

Well the audiobook made my 5 hour Amtrak ride somewhat enjoyable.

What? How? Really?
This book is a whole new level of THIRDS. Full review coming soon.

Lots of intrigue!

The series just keeps getting better with this newest offering the start of a new story arc.

A lot of this book deals with the emotional baggage of Ash and Cael. Great steps in character development for several of the characters. The actual suspense part of the story arc isn’t made clear until very close to the end though astute readers will pick up several signs of it much earlier.

It’s beginning to have that X-Files feel with government intrigue and not knowing who to trust. Of course the book once again ends with a lead in to book 6...which I’ll be downloading as soon as I hit “submit” on this review!
