I read this book in one day. I haven’t done that in a while. I wanted to finish this one.

It’s a really good book in letting you know your ideas aren’t too big to go after, and it is a little bit of manifesting and mostly putting in the work. But it’s a great motivational book.

This is a great book for helping to change your stinkin' thinkin'. Even if you aren't in business, this book helps broaden your thinking horizons and build a more confident and powerful you.

When i said i wanted to stop reading self help books do you really think id stop? Oh HELL NAW, ME WANT TO SUFFER HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, anyway this book is trash, summary: be positive, always say "I'm fine" even if you're depressed, like no shit this book actually tells the readers that whatever happens, stay positive. i guess this book has a message to be positively toxic, and yes im gonna always yap about this, I HATE CHAPTER 6 SO MUCHHH. and also.. THIS IS THE TYPE OF SELF HELP BOOK THAT GOES TO THE POINT BY THE FIRST PARAGRAPH. THEN GIVES A HUNDRED OF SHIT "REAL LIFE EXAMPLES" WITH IT......BRO WE GET IT YOU DONT HAVE TO REPEAT IT TO US LIKE 21 TIMES IN ONE CHAPTER "A FRIEND OF MINE" "A FAMOUS MUSICIAN DID" "AN ELECTRICIAN WITH."

terribelll, and also

"Prevent small people from holding you back"

Sir what do you mean.......

OOF. What a book.

I was let go from my company. I'm naturally a very introspective person but something didn't work for me at this workplace and I couldn't change. So I decided to look into other avenues to help me dig deeper, develop change and grow from this experience. I know famous people, wealthy people, HAPPY people have been let go from their positions and have used the experience to their benefit.

That's when this book was recommended to me.

I'm not a big believer in self help books and I'll tell you why : THEY ARE SO DAMN REPETITIVE.
You buy a $15 book to be told the same thing in 15 different ways with real life examples to back it up. It's like banging your head against a wall and almost puts you in a worst off perspective than before.

This book, while it does repeat, it also give you exercises, it gives you methods of thinking - yes, this is how you should think and then let me tell you how to get there. And it Mr Schwartz does it through every lesson.

I took away so many nuggets of information from this. I know I will have to reread it and keep reminding myself, but the power of your mind will push you forward if you just believe and TRAIN yourself to believe in you.

**I will say this is an older book, and I did find some sexism within the pages, but if you are able to think and focus on improving your self instead of critiquing a Schwartz who was in a different era, then I think you will take a lot a way from this book. But it there was enough to mention it**

Definitely a business help book but it has stood the test of time to still be read over 60 years later! It is inspiring because the tips are applicable to anyone from any background and teaches us how we can achieve success. It is a book about how to change your mindset and habits. In my opinion some of the language suggested this book was geared towards men because he wrote about asking your wife but that was rather small in the grand scheme of it. Everyone defines success in their own way so I do not think I will be incorporating all of the advice he shared but this is still insightful and probably will be a book I read again as I continue to learn about myself and my definition of success. A quote I found super applicable to the many changes taking place in my life — Look at things not as they are, but as they can be. Visualization adds value to everything.

audiobook

Some good ideas. Was hard to get past how dated it is. Published in the 1950s, it assumes the reader is a man and has a full-time housewife who does all the housework, parenting, etc. Some good ideas that are timeless, but a lot to wade through to get there.

Repetitive and I got what I needed from the beginning

This book was recommended to me by a training professional whose opinion I value, so despite its age (initially published in 1979) I decided to give it a go! I'm glad I did. It is a book of positive thinking and affirmation. In one sense all of the content is obvious and is material that I have come across before, even thought for myself, and therefore should not be inspirational. But in another, that very bringing together of familiarity and positivity makes a difference, lifts the spirits, and encourages changed behaviours. I am different as a result.

I learned two things: 1. My grocery store charges too much for grapes (this guy pays 15 cents a pound!) 2. I should mimic the way my boss smokes cigarettes if I want to be successful.

Look. This book needs an update in the worse way. If you can put aside the cringe-worthy sexism, there are a few takeaways that can be applied.
