I love how both characters had issues to work past. While Liams were mental and Islas were physical, they still both struggled. I cried when Liam opened up first. Usually, it's the female! It was such a nice change. And I also love the fact that he fell first and he admitted his feelings first! Overall so sweet. I did feel in some places it dragged and made it hard to continue the story. I'm looking forward to Hunter and Zaras story. They are about to be hotter than Liam and Isla!!

The Proposal Review

Couple: Liam Kincaid & Isla Bailey

Author: L. Steele

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Fake Marriage, Billionaire Romance, Wedding planner, CEO romance, alphahole

Review: Forced marriage and alphahole billionaires collide in this story! Isla and Liam are an enemies to lovers romance with a dash of deception and betrayal and ALL the spice.

Isla Bailey is a wedding planner who has been gaining attention recently after she put together a few high profile weddings for friends. She gets put on the wedding of the decade when Liam hires her to plan his wedding.

Liam is the quintessential billionaire and recluse. He immediately dislikes Isla for her bubbly personality and cheekiness. After a few meetings, the wedding he was arranging implodes and he forces Isla to marry him by blackmailing her company’s reputation.

Isla and Liam have a tumultuous relationship at first that is full of witty banter and dubious comments to one another. Isla keeps Liam at a distance because she has a personal secret she is afraid o telling him. When the secret comes out and feelings start to evolve, she is terrified he won’t accept her…little does she know that Liam knows all anyway.

This book had awesome chemistry and heat between the couple. I enjoyed the push pull and how Liam made Isla see herself as an equal. I also enjoyed the commentary from previous couples and friends seen in other books.

S/O to Tiny for guzzling all the bubbles!

I recommend this book to anyone who wants a spicy read with lots of banter and plot twists.

I couldn’t relate to the mfc towards the end. Her decisions seemed to contradict her inner monologues.

This is a continuation of the Big Bad Billionaires series of books you don’t necessarily have to read the previous books as this story can be read as a stand-alone and make sense. That being said I would say that it would enhance the overall story if you have read the previous books as lots of characters from this series and the Sovrano’s that make an appearance, also there is an underlying thread that does link all of these characters and how a certain event has impacted them all. This is the story of Liam Kincaid and Isla Wilson a Gazillionaire Alphahole and a wedding planner.

Liam has to marry and have an heir before he turns forty to fulfil the terms of his fathers will and take control of the group of companies. He’s tried everything to get out of it but nope he has to marry and thought he’d found someone…until their ‘helpful’ wedding planner gave his fiancée some very good advice. Now he has a couple of days to pull this wedding off so who better to stand in for the errant bride but the wedding planner herself.

Isla is trying to build up her fledgling business and this wedding was supposed to put her on the map but when her friend asks her advice well she’s got to be truthful even if it costs her the chance of planning the wedding of the Century. She was not expecting to take her friend’s place. But Liam knows how to play hardball and is determined to get his way even if they only have a marriage of convenience.

This story had it all yes Liam is right up there with his friends in his alphahole behaviour used to getting his own way and using his power, money and influence to achieve this any way he can. That being said that’s not all he is, there is such a depth to him while he projects a certain image in reality he’s quite a complex man who is dealing (or not) with quite heartbreaking trauma. What started out as a business arrangement for him quickly turned into wanting so much more with Isla. He really opened himself up to her and there was such a vulnerability to Liam nothing like the brash controlling man he projects to others.

Isla comes from a loving family but she has tends to isolate herself at times, she internalises her problems and tries to deal with things on her own. She loves her friends but is terrified that if they and the world knew the ‘real’ Isla…well she’s not worth knowing. Isla presents herself as a confident woman BUT the anxiety she feels about her secret is crippling. It’s clear she has fallen hard for Liam but she feels he deserves so much better than her and her baggage.

All in all this book was quite the emotional rollercoaster with secrets on both sides that had the power to completely derail Isla and Liam. But I loved how passionate they were about each other, their chemistry was scorching , they challenged each other constantly. I did get frustrated with Isla at times as Liam was always giving her the opportunity to confide in him but I completely get how scared she was to do this. Ultimately it was for Isla to deal with what happened on her own terms and not for Liam to swoop in and fix the problem. I loved that the Sisterhood of the Seven and some of the Sovrano’s were on hand for support and Tiny well he just took this book to a whole other level! This is one engrossing read that really made you think about certain things and the emotional toll it can have on a persons psyche. That being said it’s really not a heavy book and it’s still got all the spice you would expect from one of Ms Steele’s stories, I highly recommend this and can’t wait for Zara and Hunter’s book.

I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy and I loved this story it had it all and more.
