I just wanted more wolf but overall, a good fun read.

This was a super fast read because the sentences were so clipped. Abrupt. Very easy to follow the flow of the story and dialogue with the absence of poetic prose. And yet, I highlighted several sentences in this book -- which I very rarely do -- because the message was very real and relatable to women. The theme was control. Control of your body, of your mind, of how you connect with other people. Honestly, before a certain point in the story, I worried Rory was envisioning the entire thing in her head, putting some sort of classification to the loss of power she was still fighting from childhood. But no, on top of an mental and emotional dive into losing control, then regaining it with self-acceptance and respect, we get to have actual werewolf transformations. These aren't Hollywood pretty, but herald back to the old stories of bones snapping, faces splitting, and the wolf inside breaking free from its human sheepskin. Grotesque, brutal, and delightful.

This is a cute paranormal romance. Not my usual genre, but I enjoyed the word choice and descriptions. I also laughed out loud once or twice which says a lot haha.

Aurora temporarily moves back to her hometown to help her pregnant twin sister. Many things end up happening that she could never anticipate. Striking a romance with a childhood friend, a secret harbored by her sister, and well, being bitten by a werewolf.

Gory, kitschy, angry, and fun. Harrison's writing feels reminiscent of Grady Hendrix and T Kingfisher, both of whom are great. The pacing is good enough to make Such Sharp Teeth extremely readable, and there's a snarkiness to the protagonist and the prose that I enjoyed. More black comedy than horror, and definitely worth saving for spooky season.

This is a very YMMV 5 star, but I have zero complaints. An extremely fun and taut horror-romance that delivers equally on touching emotional arcs and intense, disgusting body horror.

Mild spoilers below:
Werewolves as trauma and abuse made manifest isn't wholly new to me but it's done extremely well here. Subtlety is definitely not a concern, but neither is a 10-foot tall bloodthirsty monster
