Overall, I didn't like this book, but it was just interesting enough that it kept me engaged. It's pretty short and easy to read. It felt repetitive at times. I didn't find Jack to be a believable character and that took me out of it.
Graphic: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Child abuse, Domestic abuse, Drug use, Eating disorder, Emotional abuse, Toxic relationship, Violence, Murder, Injury/Injury detail
This was INSANE and I liked it but. the author said she did zero research for these characters and. it shows!!!
I thought the ending was kinda abrupt but I was still happy with how it ended. Just a good ol’ reminder to not marry someone after only dating/knowing them for 6 months

Great story I just had to know how it ended! So good
3.5 stars. As the first 80 pages didn’t really keep me anxiously reading, it eventually picked up as promised and ended as it should.
Do you ever finish a book and feel satisfied at the ending? That's how I feel about Behind Closed Doors. I went into this book blind and I was pretty pleased with my decision.
This book doesn't pack a lot in terms of action. You find out everything you need to know about the main characters pretty early on. The layout of the book was pretty interesting, with it alternating between past and present. It does seem to cross paths with an event that helped it flow nicely.
My only complaint is that I wish there was more on-page development with Esther. But I do understand why she took a backseat role to the overall story.
But this book is emotionally driven, leaving me on the edge and anxious to finish the it. I have never hated a character in a book more. I would say there are some pretty strong trippers for psychological abuse, and animal neglect/abuse so proceed with caution.

I started this book this morning and finished it on the bus home in the same day. I was hooked and glad I kept on reading.
It’s crazy to think that behind closed doors anything can happen and not all is what it seems.
I’m looking forward to reading more of B.A Paris in the future.

I LOVED this book! A true could not put down. I dived straight in and didn't stop until the last page was read.
I tend to like more sick and twisted books, different to the rest, ones that leave you a little stunned and shocked and this was right up my alley! If you read You by Caroline Kepnes you'll love this book and vice versa. One of the best books I've read to date.
