I found a new author for my Reliable Reads TBR!
The psychological torture inflicted was hard to bear at times, but the ending was so worthwhile. And loved that one of the major characters had Down’s Syndrome, her story was a great addition and I thought the author wrote her well.
This book took such an emotional toll. I have never felt such a hatred for a character in my whole life. Anger was constantly boiling in the pit of my stomach as I hungrily flipped through the pages hoping for revenge. I actually would have given this book 5 stars but I was ultimately PISSED there was no epilogue. How could you NOT give us a happy ending “1 year later” chapter after sitting through the pain, anger, and dreadful words before??? Grace and Millie deserve a happy ending. At least one happy chapter.
What A Book This Was !!!!
This Book Was A Ride That Kept Going And Did Not Stop
This Book Was One Of The Most Horrific Books I Have Ever Read
The Way Jack Treated Grace Was Awful And Very Abusive And Very Triggering To Me
This Is Not How Women Should Be Treated At All
The Ending Was What Made Me Mad
I Did Not Like The Way It Ended At All
Just No
This Book Was Very Chilling And Just Plain Scary

I was totally in the zone with this book until Jack began his monologue to Grace, telling her his life story and revealing his whole evil plan for her and Millie. This is a weird critique, because obviously the plot is supposed to be shocking and unusual, and Jack is a diabolical psychopath, but it just didn't feel realistic to me? His character felt almost cartoonish, and his lines seemed too thought out and scripted. No one talks like that. And the way he kept predicting every single move Grace would make made it seem like his plan came about too easily for him, like everything he had always wanted all of a sudden fell into his lap when he met Grace.
I also wish we knew exactly what Esther had suspected about their relationship before the end.
So interesting concept, and I was really compelled at the beginning. But Jack's character made this one fall flat for me.

3.5 rounded up, wild ride but sometimes I just wanted to shake the shit out of MC
Wish I could give 3.5 stars. It was entertaining but a bit too predictable for me. It is a great summer, beach read though.
