This is quickly becoming one of my favorite small town romance series!

First off, I absolutely LOVE this friend group. They are all SO great and have their own personalities that all mess together so well.

Steve, a local police officer, lost his wife Heather nine months prior when he gets on the scene of fatal car accident that leaves Erica Shaw in the hospital and her fiancé Dom dead.

Erica is completely new to town and trying to figure out this new life without Dom. She moves onto Maddie’s houseboat, which is on Steve’s property.

The two of them become friends and connect on a level that no one else can understand based on their traumatic pasts.

I really loved this book so much. Steve and Erica were the most unlikely couple and had to overcome so much, which when I read the blurb, didn’t think would be possible.

One thing that I love about this series, is that we always get hints of the future couples, not just for the next book in the series, but the one after that. With that said, the next one is going to be an interesting one with Hannah Jane and Issac!

I love love love this!!! Steve and Erica had to deal with so much, but for each other it was so worth it!!! And did I mention

if you need an ugly cry, this is for you.

im so happy Steve got his happy ending after what he went through in poker face.

i love this bunch of human beings so much. i wanna be with them.

Erika is the curvy queen and i love her with my whole heart. I connected with her because I don't feel like i belong either in my family.

Maddie & Luca (book 1) stole my heart, but I was not prepared for Steve Pelham.

This book begins in heartbreak and you read through Steve and his grapple with grief. Steve’s friendship with Mel family warmed my heart and I wish I could have more. Going through the heartbreak of losing your childhood sweetheart would be so tough and MCG does a great job at writing Steve as he draws into himself and goes through the 5 stages of grief.

Erica was the breath of fresh air Steve needed after moving onto Maddie’s houseboat. Steve had a need to take care of someone (serve and protect, right?) and Erica reminded him of that. I loved their love story and their nap dates are what dreams are made of.

I’m loving this series! Steve and Erica are wonderful together and I adored their story. Found family is my favorite - can’t wait to read about the rest of the Poker Club members!
