This was my first venture with Jennifer Millikin, and since I went in completely blind other than the blurb, I wasn't sure what to expect. Small town, for me, has to be done really, really well to keep my attention span and there has to be a lot of depth and dimension to the characters. This specific story was so multi dimensional and left me in my feels so deeply that I had to re-evaluate my previous aversion to this type of trope. I loved this so much and the writing was so good that I will be reading all of this author's backlog as soon as humanly possible. This book was filled with so much heart and the attention to detail was absolutely unmatched. Our MC's are so dynamic, not only on their own but with each other, I could not put this down. Colbie and Jake were so complimentary, you found yourself immediately rooting for their HEA. I could say a million more things about how great this book was and how perfectly it was developed, but I will just leave you with, READ IT. You will not regret it. 5/5 stars.

The Least Amount of Awful by Jennifer Millikin is available now in Paperback and eBook
⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Book Review
Colbie Jones is estranged from her father until she gets the call that he was badly injured in a work related incident. She packs her bags and heads out to face him. Once she arrives she is faced with the responsibility of taking over his business while he recovers. Her father isn't the only estranged family. Colbie has to face her step mother and step sister, a family she never really fit into. And then there is the son that her father never really had, Jake Whittier.
The Least Amount of Awful is a small town, workplace romance featuring a single dad. Millikin really knows how to build up her characters and set the stage for her readers. At first, Jake was a grump and I absolutely despised him. Then I was introduced to Robbie and I immediately fell in love. Throughout the book Jake began to grow on me. Colbie, sure won those guys over with her snow cones, and to admit my weakness, I definitely wanted one after that scene as well! This novel was full of steam, tension, and flirty banter. The emotional trauma our main characters endured caused them to be reserved. Throughout this novel they were encouraged to open up their hearts to one another and trust again. I will definitely recommend this 5 star read to all my book friends.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: single dad, small town, boss x employee, enemies to lovers
This book!! I loved it and devoured it!! It is that good.
Colbie went through a lot when she was little, but when the past follows her in the present, she realizes that she has to get over what happened in her childhood and discover the truth.
Jake is a wonderful father. He and Robbie have been together since Robbie was only a few months old, and his ex-girlfriend voluntarily left his life. At first he doesn't like Colbie for reasons that we find out from the beginning, but who realizes later that she is a nice woman and immediately grows feelings for her.
The two have a wonderful relationship, and when someone comes back from Jake's past and turns everything upside down, Colbie realizes that in order for everything to be fine, she has to act.
I really liked that there was always communication between them and that even though they were at a distance at one point, they still talked and missed each other.
The ending was so emotional that it melted my heart.
Thank You Jennifer Millikin and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read this amazing book in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK! I just want to hug it and protect it, while also throw it at people's faces and tell them to read it, because it is so breath-takingly beautiful!
“If I’m kissing you, you’ll be the only woman I’m kissing. If I’m taking you on a date, you’ll be the only one. If what you need is casual, I can do casual. Just know I won’t be doing casual with anybody else.”
When I say you guys need to meet Jake, I mean go get The Least Amount of Awful asap!
🥹 Single Dad
🙌🏽 Enemies to Lovers
🔨 Boss x Employee (She’s the boss!)
🤭 Forced Proximity
🏘️ Small Town
The banter is *chef’s kiss*, the tension is delicious, the back and forth will have you grinning!
If that wasn’t enough, this book was heart-warming and so emotional. The romance was spectacular! But I also just adored the family dynamics happening in this book. And the angst!!! Ugh, my heart.
This gave me all the vibes from The Simple Wild and the main character reminded me of Zahra from The Fine Print. So if you liked those two books, get your hands on this one!
Jennifer is an author that has made it into my list of need-to-read-their-entire-backlist. I look forward to diving into her books!

Whew this book was addictive, between the romance storyline but also the intertwined parent/child dynamics all across this book between the characters I couldn’t put it down. I loved Jake and Colbie, but Colbie and Emmett’s relationship was the one that captured and kept my attention. The dynamics and the emotions pulled me through the entire story and then to make a similar storyline for Robbie was fantastic and heartbreaking.
Jake and Colbie were perfect, they worked together well, and their relationship was written so well. I can’t wait to read Georgia and Rhodes story!

I received this arc from Valentine apt in exchange for my honest review.
Colbie tries to plan for everything, so when her boyfriend cheated on her, she wasn’t surprised or as upset as she thought she’d be. Then, she gets a call that her estranged father is badly injured, and she knows it’s time to face him.
Jake is a single dad, who works for Emmett, Colbie’s father, for his construction company. Emmett is like the far, Jake never had, and Colbie coming back to town, makes her his competition. Colbie didn’t care that Jake didn’t like her because she wasn’t staying long, that is, until her dad asked her to run the business while he recovers. Too bad for Jake, he’s going to have to deal with Colbie a lot more now.
This reads like a hallmark movie, and had me giggling, swooning, laughing, and even yelling at times.
This story includes;
-small town romance
-enemies to lovers
-forced proximity
-single dad
-boss/employee
