“‘Forever’ is about reaching into the future, into years far away and unknowable. ‘Always’ is about every second of every day. It’s as far-reaching as ‘forever,’ it just starts sooner.”

This is a book about two co-authors who are writing a book. Very meta with a lot of prose. It’s good but it was a bit slow at times. Beautiful love story with a healthy dash of finding yourself.

The formatting was super clever— the characters’ book writing reflecting the authors’ own choices. Also they managed to be both friends and enemies to lovers. FMC change of heart was a liiiitle rushed but otherwise great development.

Would rate it higher except for the way the book handled infedelity. IMO there needed to be a naming of the emotional affair & acknowledgement that they constitute cheating.

forcefully giving it 4 stars bec i didnt want to like it yet i did and i respect that

this book was pretty good. i liked that they continued it well past the happy ending. there wasnt much to not like. loved the angst, so much angst omg ,,,, kind of frustrating to not know what the fuck happened 4 yrs ago uptill the 60% mark but what can u do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i liked how when she broke up her ex n got w nathan they discussed that they needed each other and how that was a stark juxtaposition from her ex n her,,, makes u think thoughts on human psychology or whatever

the emotional cheating,,, no words for that im compartmentalizing it to focus on the good

liked both mcs,,, feel like nathan got more facetime than katrina yet i still liked him ,,, kind of saying a lot tbh i dont like male mcs that often

nathan was serving strong augustus evertt vibes tho, good for him,,,

Just wrapping my head around the meta of this book: This is a book about co authors written by co-authors. The book is the story of them writing a romance book (in flashbacks) and writing a book now- on divorce. The characters in the book reflect their own relationship on the page- in fact the central premise of the book is that this is the only way they communicate. So I feel confident saying that what I am reading is a relationship reflected in a writing relationship likely reflected in a writing relationship. A bit meta, but works decently well if not a bit head scratching at times. I feel like this could be a play- very character driven. I liked it! But it doesn’t share the same rarefied page as Book Lovers.

“Sometimes life is stranger than fiction, but sometimes it’s incomparable in other ways. Sometimes it’s a heaven that the false fire of imagine could never capture”
