2.5 stars. The POV switching drove me crazy. I'd be reading from Kaden's POV, then the next paragraph would be Shea or Logan's, and it'd take me a minute to figure out what was going on. This was a sweet story, but everything was a little too perfect for me. I've not been through anything like Kaden has, but I don't think a couple of months on a ranch in Montana with some people who care about him would heal him quite so easily.

I loved this book. I like stories with a tortured hero and a strong protector. The boy's past was well done.

Kaden and Logan's story was heartbreaking and beautiful. Both of them were such beautiful characters and I loved their journey.

My only complaint would be, you guessed it, the narration. The POV switched with every dialogue and sometime even in the middle of a narrative paragraph. I don't know why the author decided to narrate the book the way they did, but at times, I had to do back and read it because I was so confused.

...I wanted really badly to like this book, especially after I found out that the author and I frequent the same yaoi forum. But...while I enjoyed the plot summary on the back, that was about the end of it. The pace of the book was rather quick; there was a lot more that could have been done, I felt. It was a quick read; only about three, maybe four hours total. I really wish the characters could have just been GAY. The first thing that Logan "thinks" is "oh, even though I've never been attracted to men before, this one is pretty cute --but that might just be because he's kind of girly looking". Lame. I want to read books about gay men BECAUSE THEY ARE GAY. Not straight guys who fall for the "one and only man they'll ever find attractive". Seriously. There were other problems too. The writing was weak; the storyline was far too sweet and sappy. If I wanted that kind of a story, I'd read a Harlequin.

Ogni volta che leggo questo romanzo piango come una fontana. Nient'altro da aggiungere.

A difficult subject to write about, and a wonder Kaden survived as much as he did. His struggles to function with life, and to trust a relationship are astonishing considering his background. However, it becomes a little more sentimental towards the end than I usually enjoy, but otherwise it's well written and well plotted. My only concern is than his emotional wounds healed too fast to be realistic considering how very damaged he was to begin with. I would have preferred to see the pacing of this story set over a year's time, rather than a mere month or two before Kaden made such remarkable progress. It's the compression of time, not the story itself that I'm uncomfortable with.

Constantly switching POVs, over use of "kid", "boy", "teenager" and "little one", as well as "he looks feminine, that must be why I like him", got on my nerves.

While I felt for Kaden and his tragic past, I didn't buy the story. Mild spoilers
SpoilerShea went to Harvard? How did they afford that??? They put Kaden, having never ridden before, on a two year old horse... Unless it's a thoroughbred racing that horse would still be in training itself. Logan does such an abrupt gfy and thinks of Kaden as a teen still. Kaden's a super duper cook even though there is nothing in his past that would give him the skill. And the epilogue!!! Jeesh

Logan, despite his flares of jealousy, was good man though and helped Kaden. I wanted Kaden to heal.

I first read Touch Me Gently last year, but when the audio book came for this book was released, I couldn't resist purchasing and giving the story a listen.

As far as the audio version goes, I thought the narration was excellent and I found myself loving the story even more the second time than I did the first time (and I really loved it the first time)!

The story itself is very moving. Kaden is such a damaged young man with a brutal past, so it was difficult not to feel sympathetic and cringe right along with him every time someone reached out to touch him. Logan was a good contrast; confident and strong, yet also a gentle soul.

I really enjoyed the slow development of their friendship and consequent relationship. It felt like a good progression, but not one without a few setbacks along the way.

While the climax of the story was somewhat predictable, the result created a new set of challenges. Rather than feeling like it was simply added as an afterthought, I felt like it helped strengthen Kaden and Logan's relationship and gave Kaden a chance to grow stronger and beyond the fear of his past.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story and characters. Since this review is being written after my second reading (or listen to be more accurate), I think it's safe to say that I'll likely come back in the future and reread this one.

Kayden was abused and raped by his stepfather growing up and he has the scars to prove it. At only 19 he has recovered from his ordeal and time in a mental institution and is out in the world. He is trying to move on with his life but he has problems keeping jobs where he gets yelled at and having a panic attack when men get angry with him. His counselor tells him he has a cousin who needs a cook on his ranch for three months. With out any other options Kayden heads to Montana hoping he will be able to survive. Logan is the owner of the house and immediately takes to liking Kayden. He is worried though when the first accident happens and Kayden cowers before him. He also doesn't like how Kayden cuts himself when he is having a panic attack. Logan shows patience and is drawn to the younger man in ways he never thought possible.

This story was great but it was heavy. Especially all that Kayden went through with his abuse. I really liked Logan and all the patience he had for Kayden. The only thing that got me was that Logan is obviously straight when this story starts but he doesn't go through any struggle for being attracted to a guy. Is isn't even brought up or he has to think about it. It is like he is attracted and then just goes for it. I thought that a little odd since he is a cowboy and usually that is a hard issue to comes to terms with. Good story other then that.
