I genuinely didn't think I'd like this book, I almost returned it early and dnf'd but gave it a little longer. It totally turned around and I actually really ended up enjoying it and how much each of the MC's was able to learn from eachother and heal from their abusive exes together.

Peyton Corinne outdid herself. WOW. I loved Unsteady so much that I wasn't sure that Unloved would live up to the hype. I should have known better because not only were my expectations met, but they were exceeded.
Unloved follows Ro, Sadie's best friend and Freddy, Rhys' friend and hockey teammate. Freddy is struggling with biology and has bounced around from tutor to tutor until Ro comes along and agrees to help him. Freddy is considered the "school slut" for sleeping around a lot, but Ro easily sees through him.
While I do love a reformed playboy story, I don't think that's quite what this was. Freddy wasn't sleeping around because he's a hockey player and was just able to get hookups. He has quite a past where his trauma manifests in hooking up with people because that's the only way that he feels he's worthy to other people.
Speaking of Freddy, I loved his character so much. While I don't have dyslexia or dyscalculia, I do have ADHD, and I really felt his struggle with people making fun of him or professors not being willing to accept his accommodations that make it necessary for him to succeed. I also was a bit healed at the way Ro treated Freddy with his disabilities. She never once laughed at him or made of him for things that were pretty out of his control.
There were very few things I didn't love about this book, but one of those things was how some of the plot lines wrapped up at the end, specifically surrounding Ro's ex and more importantly the situation with Freddy's past.In my opinion, Dr. Tinley should have been fired for what she did to Freddy. It was completely unprofessional. The only reason I'm not docking stars off for it is that I hope that by having Ro report it, it leads to her getting fired and we just didn't see that on page.
Overall, this series is definitely a new holy grail, and I will read everything Peyton Corinne puts out with 100% certainty.

I loved Freddy in unsteady and I was happy to know his story was next. It was nice to see how his and Ro's love story developed alongside that of Rhys and Sadie.
I will say I did like the main couple both as characters and as a couple but I think this book was too long for what it was. For maybe the last 6 chapters before the epilogue, each last sentence felt like a closing one for their story but then it just kept going. It was nice to see things wrapped up cutely in the epilogue though.
The only thing that made this a little less of an enjoyable read for me was how long we had to endure both Tyler and Carmen and how manipulative and pathetic they were. As if the family drama wasn't enough! There was really a lot of trauma in this book so if you're triggered by verbal/emotional abuse and abuse of power then I'd skip this one.
