This was the first hockey romance I've read that didn't feel unserious.
It was heavy and heartwarming, all while establishing genuine chemistry between Ro and Matt.
I also appreciated that we got to see the "found family" aspect of the story develop throughout the book; it wasn't forced on the reader.
This writing is the perfect example of an author showing the reader why the couple loves each other, rather than telling them. The dialogue was never forced or unrealistic. Furthermore, the hurt/comfort aspect of the romance never felt like trauma bonding.
I hate that I love this book so much simply because it stands out among the rest, but that's the truth of the matter. A simple hockey love story was made to be heavy and serious and relatable, which just proves to me how well written this book was.
