This was…something

I’ve been waiting for this one for so long and I’m so disappointed. As usual the spice and writing was good and the premise was great but my god I did not care about anyone. So many characters and storylines that were so unnecessary and so many pages were wasted that could have been served to develop their romance and chemistry more because I never felt it, it was just sex for me.

I love Q.B! She wrote 2 of my favorite books ever (Forget me not and Always been you) but I think this will be the last book of hers that I read, since I’m pretty sure her next few books are going to be from this universe and I’m not interested whatsoever.

Also, side note, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to mention it but I really need to get this off my chest. I noticed that every time she has a Black FMC (in this one Avery is mixed and it was only acknowledged like once at the very beginning, you can literally fancast her as white if you want lol) they have ZERO proximity to blackness. No Black best friends, even just friends/co workers or a Black man that hits on them to make the MMC jealous, or siblings or even PARENTS…in Forget me not the FMC went through so many things and we never saw her parents ONCE not even in a flashback. In Keep her safe as well both parents die in the beginning and not one Black friend in that group too. In Love unexpected her Black mom dies in like the first chapter, Always been you she’s adopted and we see a bio parent in one scene and he’s horrible. In this book, her Black father is literally irrelevant. The worst kept secret would have been perfect to make her close with her father or give her a Black friend since their friend group was big but nah. I don’t know if it’s on purpose or not, but I personally think it’s odd.

I’m still rooting for Q.B Tyler, because I will ALWAYS root for BIPOC authors, but it will be from afar and I wish her nothing but recognition and success for her future books because she is extremely talented

Definitely hot. Not a lot of love, just lust. Like they could have talked about her supposed daddy issues or how his wife cheating effected him but nope just sex. Also in like a month timeline they fall in love? Nah. But they were hot

Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

The ending felt rushed. We could have lost a chapter or two at the beginning and moved it to the end. Overall, this book was excellent and I loved reading it.
